Commerce Club
1. Functionality of the Commerce Club, the cell of NMIMS SOC Navi
     Mumbai represents as the knowledge centre as well as support to the
     students for all matter related to accounting, finance, marketing and
     general management. From conducting special sessions explaining
     careers in the above areas to in depth area specific sessions such as
     equity research seminars related to finance, where investment analysis
     is explained, the club will be actively engaging in activities which will help
     the students to improve and sharpen their skills and show-case their
     talent.
  2. The commerce club will be busting with activities throughout the year.
     The students will get a platform to express their ideas and views and also
     the faculty members can provide then with all the guidance and support
     to take forward the activities and make it a success in a long run.

 About
 Commerce in education can be related to business education. It handles that area of
 education which develops the required knowledge, skills and attitudes for handling of
 Trade, Commerce and Industry. Due to technological changes and digitalisation there is
 being constant generation of new ideas and innovations and commerce education is not
 an exception to it. There has been a turnaround during the past decade in the field of
 commerce education. Hence to be in pace with constantly changing trends in commerce,
 the students need to be actively involved in activities which will help them to be in sync
 with the corporate and business world ,the commerce club shall be an ideal platform
 under the able guidance of the faculty members.
 Vision
 Our vision is to promote commerce knowledge and provide students with the opportunity
 of value addition and network with the professionals in the financial world.
Mission
The club intends to take up initiatives to bridge the gap between the

 Objectives
    • To help students understand the nature of job opportunities available in the
        financial sector
    • To stimulate thinking and spread awareness towards the area of finance,
        marketing, general management.
    • To expose the students to the industry and provide profound insight in the area
        specific domain.
    • To provide a platform where they can put their knowledge to test and enhance
        their skills.

           List of Major Events to be Conducted:
               1. News-letter: A Commerce-Journal with Bi-Monthly Publication of articles relevant
                   and contemporary to accounting, finance, marketing and general management
               2. A business conclave where top leaders from the industry and students congregate
                   for panel discussion and speaker sessions to discuss events making a mark in the
                   global financial world.
               3. Finance Week- A week where we celebrate finance and is full of sessions by business
                   leaders, competitions based on Mergers and Acquisitions, requiring in-depth
                   knowledge of finance. It consists of:– Simulation game– Mergers and Acquisitions–
                   Paper Presentation • -Fun Events • - Online stock trading plus M&A
               4. A Flagship event requiring immense research and analysis to create a stock pitch and
                   then convince the who’s who of the industry with your pitch
               5. Stock Analysis: Analysing current trends of stocks using Technical Analysis, picking
                   out potential stocks using Fundamental Analysis. Discussion of Derivative and
                   Commodity segments etc.
               6. Managing a Portfolio: Using a simulator the club manages a portfolio of stocks, the
                   club members will research, discuss and evaluate companies and decide to invest in
                   them.
               7. Daily Dose:(financial literacy) We will give a new finance-related term every day to
                   enrich finance vocabulary. For example, day 1: GDP it’s meaning, relevance, etc.

8. Industry analysis: It will facilitate in better understanding of company’s statement
      and the overall and will form a part of effective strategic planning and contestant will
      suggest stocks to invest in coming years.
9. Website/Blog: Making a website that provides the members with a platform to voice
      their opinions and hot takes on current happenings in the market, will also function
      as a news portal for the club
10. Weekly Presentation and Discussion by Club Members: The members will make a
      presentation solo or in a group and present a topic of their choice which is relevant
      to finance, the presentation will then be anonymously voted by other group
      members and feedback on the presentation skills and the meta of the topic will be
      provided with suggestions for improvement.
11. Coffee Chat Program: The club invites immediate seniors from the industry to share
      their experience
12. Book Readers Programme: Members read a book for a month and present a
      summary of the book. Keeping it a Monthly Activity.
13. Budget Analysis In-depth analysis of the Union Budget for
•     Key tax proposals
•   Policy updates
•   Impact across different sectors
14. Debate: Apart from MUNs based on politics we, in the finance club of SOC can
    provide a platform to discuss and voice the opinions and views both for and against
    the latest financial laws and initiatives formulated by the finance ministry of India
    and what impact they all have in various businesses and the economy as a whole.
