 Discuss the pros and cons of globalization for the Indian economy.

- Pros – Economic growth, Consumers getting world class products,


increased standard of living, capital flow from foreign investors,
increased government income, better standard of living,
employment opportunities etc.
- Cons – Indian native players to compete with large MNCs,
dependency on internation markets & trends, strain of
environmental resources, income inequality etc.

2. Balance of Payments:
 Explain the major components of India’s balance of payments and
their trends in recent years.

3. International Economic Institutions:


 What role do IMF and World Bank play in shaping India’s
economic policies?

- IMF & World bank play a crucial role in shaping India’s economic
policies by providing advices & assistance in making financial
projections & also by providing financial assistance
 How has India's relationship with the WTO evolved?

- India is part of WTO since 1995.

IV. Social Structure in India


1. Multiculturalism:
 How does multiculturalism impact social harmony and economic
development in India?

- India is the home of various religions, languages, cultures &


traditions. Multiculturism is the prime reason why India is
accredited as country with unity in diversity.
- Multiculturalism impacts social harmony and economic
development in India in multiple ways including: emphasizing co-
existence, celebrating the differences, embracing each other
cultures, mitigating the tensions between diverse groups,
promoting tourism to cultural heritage centres, providing diversity
in work places etc.

2. Demographic Trends:
 Discuss the implications of India's demographic dividend on its
economic growth.
- Current demographic distribution India reflects that the working
population is more than the dependent population. Thus, if
adequate job opportunities are created, the economic productivity
increases

3. Urbanization and Migration:


 Evaluate the impact of internal migration on urban infrastructure
in India.

- Due to migration of rural poor for employment opportunities, the


urban cities are facing severe infrastructural strains like: un planned
housings, strain on ground water, water scarcity due to disappeared

- Compared to post independence times, the gender inequality is


very much reduced now due to increased female literacy rates,
women empowerment, women participation in work places,
government push for women pursuing higher studies, women in
political roles, govt policy frame works
- Further improvement can be brought in eradicating social stigma in
rural India.

 Discuss the role of social movements in bringing about economic
reforms in India.

 How does the political system in India influence economic
policymaking?

- The political system influence economic policymaking in India, as


the policy makers are politicians who are elected by the people.
- The politicians try to make the policies in line with their manifesto
promises, their ideological inclinations & along with other coalition
negotiations

7. Human Development:
 Assess the progress of human development in India using the
Human Development Index (HDI).

- Human Development Index (HDI) in India showed a steady growth


reflecting the progress of the human development in India
- Life Expectancy stands at 69.7 yrs. Where there is a scope of
further improvement for healthcare infrastructures, public health
schemes
- Education & child care are also satisfactory.
