• Island Tourism Festival is the annual

Mariamman Teppakulam is a pond

• Gabbar Singh Negi was a soldier in


the British Indian Army during
World War I and a recipient of the
Victoria Cross, the highest and
most prestigious award for

area around the Negi Memorial in
Chamba comes alive with many
kiosks being set up.

Gangasagar Mela

• The Gangasagar fair and pilgrimage


is held annually on Sagar Island's
southern tip, where the Ganges
enters the Bay of Bengal.
This confluence is also called
Gangasagar or Gangasagara. Near
the confluence is the Kapil Muni
Temple.
• The Gangasagar pilgrimage and fair
is the second largest congregation
of mankind after the triennial ritual
bathing of Kumbha Mel a. Every

Kumbh Mela
The Kumbh Mela is the largest religious
gathering in the world.

The mela (gathering) is held on a rotational


basis at four auspicious Hindu pilgrimage
sites-Allahabad, Haridwar, Nashik-Trimbak
and Ujjain.

The mela is held once in three years at


different places and at any given place after
a time interval of twelve years.
