For Area of 2nd triangle, s = (70+40+50)/2 = 80

Area = √[s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)] = √80(80-70)(80-40)(80-50) = √(80*10*40*30) = 979.79 sq.m.

For 5000 bricks in 1:2 cement mortar, the cubic meters of sand required will be :

a) 1 b) 2 c) 4 d) 5.5

According to IS, Brick size = 19 cm * 9 cm * 9 cm

Brick size with mortar = 20 cm * 10 cm *10 cm (mortar thickness 10mm = 1cm)

No. of brick in 1 cu.m. brickwork = 500 nos.

For 5000 no.s of brickworks , vol . of brickwork = 5000/500 = 10 cu.m.

Vol. of brick only = 5000*0.19*0.09*0.09 = 7.695 cu.m.

Vol. of mortar = 10 cu.m. – 7.695 cu.m. = 2.305 cu.m.

Increase 30% to 35% to get dry volume. Vol. of dry mix = 1.3*2.305 = 3 cu.m.

Sand = (2/3) *3 = 2 cu.m.
