4. A farmer harvested the following amount of food stuffs, wheat – 65 bags, sorghum- 75 bags, millet-
63 bags, groundnuts-59 bags and maize-85 bags. Represent this information in a pie chart. (5 marks)
5. Factorize the expression 6𝑥 3 − 17𝑥 2 − 4𝑥 + 3. Hence solve the cubic equation
6𝑥 3 − 17𝑥 2 − 4𝑥 + 3 = 0 (5 marks)
6. Simplify without using tables or calculator

(4 marks)
cos 225°(𝑠𝑖𝑛 2 150°+1)

7. In a circle of radius r = 2cm , what is the length of the arc intercepted by a central angle of measure
𝜃 = 1.2 𝑟𝑎𝑑𝑖𝑢𝑠 (2 marks)
2 3 3
8. If 𝛼 and 𝛽 are the roots of the equation 3𝑥 + 2 = 8𝑥, find the values of 𝛼 + 𝛽 (4 marks)
9. Solve the equation 𝑐𝑜𝑠 2 𝑥 + 𝑐𝑜𝑠𝑥 = 𝑠𝑖𝑛2 𝑥 for 0° ≤ 𝑥 ≤ 180° (3 marks)

to excessive vibration is 25 and due to excessive humidity is 50. Determine the
probabilities that during a one year period a component:
i) Falls due to excessive temperature and excessive vibration
ii) Falls due to excessive vibration or excessive humidity.
iii) Will not fall because of both excessive. (6 marks)
15. A box contains 5 red, 2 white and 3 blue balls. In how many ways can the 10 balls be arranged in a
row? (3 marks)
16. A bag contains 7 red marbles and 3 green marbles. Two marbles are drawn , one after the
other without replacement. Illustrate this information on a tree diagram , and find the
probability that
i) The marbles are green
ii) The marbles are of different colours (6 marks)
17. When the polynomial f(x) is divided by x − 2 the remainder is 7 and when f(x) is divided by
