ksh.200 and the subsequent deposits were 120% of the previous deposit.

b) Find the amount the hawker had deposited at the end of the tenth week. (2mks)
4. A student took the measurements of his classroom and gave the width as 7m and the length as 9m.
If there is an error of 2% in each measurement, determine the greatest value of x + y , if
x and y are the width and length of the classroom respectively. Give your answer to 4 decimal places.

14. The figure below shows a right pyramid on a square base of side 10cm. The slant length of the
pyramid is 13cm. X is the mid-point of RS and OY is the perpendicular height of the pyramid.
Determine;

(ii) the angle between the planes RSY and QRST. (2mks)
15. Mr. Kisaka traveling at 45km/h reached Town A 2 minutes earlier than Mr. Bii, but when Mr. Kisaka
traveled at 36km/h; he reached town A 2 minutes later than Mr. Bii. Both beginning their journey from
Kapsabet at the same time; find the distance from Kapsabet to town A.

the radius of the earth as 6370km and π as 22/7, calculate the shortest distance between the two cities in
kilometers giving your answer to the nearest whole number. (3mks)

17. a) A commercial plot is valued at Ksh.500,000. Due to high rate of crime in the area, the value of the
plot depreciated at the rate of 10% per six months for 2 years. It then appreciated at the rate of 4% per
quarter year for the next 3 years. What was the value of the plot after 5 years.

b) Mr. Kireger bought a plot for shs.300,000 per hectare. The value of this plot appreciated at a rate
of 10% p.a. After two years, he sold the whole plot to a customer who paid him Ksh.500,000 per hectare. In
the transaction, he received sh. 274,000 more than the present value of the plot. Determine the size of Mr.
Kireger’s plot in hectares. (5mks)
18. The vertices of a triangle PQR are P(1,1), Q(4,1) and R(5,4)
a) Determine the coordinates of P1Q1 and R1, the image points of P, Q and R under rotation about
