5.1. Inverter installation environment
Inverter and related equipment should be installed according to the installation environment standard
detailed in Table 5.1
Not adhering to this standard may yield to degradation of insulation and other effects provoking
provokin
reduction in lifetime and/or failure.
It is recommended to measure and evaluate environmental variables in the installation location prior to
inverter installation. In case there is some parameter that does not comply with the specifications,
corrective measures should be taken prior to inverter installation.

When cleaning the inverter room, use an electrical vacuum cleaner to prevent rubbish and
dust to get into the air

5.3. Electrical Requirements

(1) Grid Connection Step-up

up Transformer
Minimum requirements for a two-winding
winding grid connection transformer are as follows:
- Galvanic isolation between windings is required.
- Only delta and ungrounded wye connections
connections are allowed for the secondary (inverter side).
- The secondary winding (inverter side) should not be grounded at any point. Impedance grounding is
also not allowed.
- Shield between high voltage winding and low voltage winding is required. Shield should be connected to
the protective earth (PE) of the transformer.
- Impedance between primary and secondary should be more than 3% and less than 7%.
- When the dc circuit is grounded intentionally or accidentally, the phase to ground voltage of the
secondary
y may have a peak up to 110% the maximum dc input voltage (1500V).
- The transformer should be rated at 2550kVA (PVH-L2550E) / 2222kVA (PVH-L2220E)
L2220E) or over.
- Other requirements may apply. Ask your TMEIC representative for further transformer requirements.

(3) Insulation Monitoring

This inverter does not measure insulation resistance or insulation impedance. Insulation monitoring should
s
be installed by the user when required by local regulations. Installation instructions may vary depending on
type, connections and dimensions. Some devices may not be possible to install inside the inverter and
some may not be compatible. Please contact our representative
r for further details.

(4) PV Array Grounding and Ground Fault Detection

The PV array can be negative grounded, positive grounded or floating.
For negative or positive grounded, an optional circuit will measure the ground current and trip the inverter
when that current surpass the protection setting. Also, positive-to-ground voltage and negative-to-ground
negative
voltage are measured.
For floating systems
ms ground fault is detected when the difference between the positive-to-ground
positive voltage
and negative-to-ground
ground voltage is larger than the protection setting.

18
(5) Residual Current Detection (RCD) or Monitoring (RCM) Device
The inverter is not equipped with a residual current detection (RCD) or monitoring (RCM) device. An RCD or
RCM device should be installed when required by local regulations. The inverter can cause a dc current in
the external protective earthing conductor, therefore only an RCD or RCM of Type B is allowed on the
supply side of this inverter.
Installation instructions may vary depending on connections and dimensions. Some devices may not be
possible to install inside the inverter and some may not be compatible. Please contact our representative
representa
for further details.

7. Inverter Transportation

Do not apply a mechanical shock over 1.5G to the inverter

A shock over 1.5G may cause performance degradation or failure.

Do not expose the package frame to salt water or rain

CAUTION Salt water and rain may be absorbed by the frame and provoke
performance degradation or failure.

The package frame provides good protection for the inverter during transportation. However, observe
the following precautions

9.6. Transportation after unpacking

When transporting the inverter with a crane, follow the applicable

procedures ( ). Keep the wire rope at an angle less than 60°.
DANGER If procedures are not observed, there is a risk of injury and damage of
the inverter
According to local regulations and safety specifications

(1) Transportation with a crane Up to 60

Lifting holes are provided to lift the inverter through a crane.

Use a wire rope sling to lift the inverter keeping the wire angle
less than 60°. Confirm that the wire is capable to withstand the
weight of the inverter.

Inverter weight: 2300kg

10. Inverter Installation
10.1. Cabinet base setup and tolerance

Establish a reference line from the reference point and measure all the distances, angles, inclinations
and levels involved. Install the cabinet base after verifying all the measured parameters. Please refer
to the layout diagram in the attached
attached documentation for the exact location of the fixation holes.

(1) Tolerance for distances measured from the reference line to the upper part of the cabinet
base is +0.5mm. The upper part of the base cannot be below the surface (reference line).
(2) Put a mark for the fixation holes and verify with a theodolite or a transit that the elevation of
each point is equal with a tolerance of 1mm.
(3) Prepare the fixation holes

11. Fixation of the Inverter

During installation, do not incline the inverter more than 10°

DANGER If the inverter is inclined more than 10°, it may fall causing injuries.

(1) When installing several cabinets in parallel, mount first the cabinet of the left corner or the cabinet
of right corner. Never begin with cabinets of the center. Proceed then with the cabinet located next
following a left to right or right to left direction accordingly.
(2) Align the cabinet
Align the frontal side of the cabinet using a pinch bar (Fig. 4.3) through the holes located in the
lateral surface of the cabinet and fix it with the corresponding bolt.
(3) Tighten the bolts.

12.3. Connection of the grounding
ding electrode conductor

The inverter must be connected to ground

If not grounded, insulation degradation may cause current leakage, thus

posing a risk of electric shock.

DANGER Ensure a ground resistance less than 5

This mark indicates the grounding point of the inverter. Connect the
ground through this terminal.

There is a risk of electric shock if the inverter is

not properly grounded

The grounding electrode terminal is located in the front-bottom

front part of the AC output cabinet.
