ADVANTAGES

1. Cheap Source of Energy

Fundamentally, fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gases are some of the
cheapest resources of energy on the planet because they are heavily subsided
by the government. In recent years, the extraction of fossil fuels is cheaper
than compared to solar and wind energies.

2. Fossil Fuels are abundant

Fossil fuels are plenteous in supply as they are discovered in almost every
region in the world

3. They are completely stable

Fossil fuels contain hydrogen and carbon molecules, making them greatly
stable. The constant situation of their molecular structure also makes them
simple to store.

4. Safe to transport

Since fossil fuels are stable and safe; they can be moved efficiently and easily
over long distances. They can be pumped through large pipes or moved on
large trucks below and above the ground.

DISADVANTAGES

1. Fossil Fuels contribute to climate change

Fossil Fuels are the main driver of global warming. When they are
burned, they release vast amounts of harmful byproducts called
greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

2. They are non renewable.

Unlike solar power, geothermal, and wind energy, fossil fuels are non-
renewable sources of energy. This means that there are finite resources
available and its reserves are not replenished naturally.

3. Unsustainable

There is no safe amount of fossil fuel use because any burning of fossil
fuels in power plants (or from cars) leads to CO2 release and air
pollution.
4. Accident-prone

Fossil fuels have led to extreme accidents over the years, including
pipeline leaks, exploding drilling platforms, and the dumping of millions
of gallons of oil into the ocean.
