The Types of Assessments feed into the Purpose of
Assessment by determining how and when we gather
information on student progress.
The Assessment Principles guide the structure and
fairness of the various assessment types, ensuring they
are valid, reliable, and equitable.
The Key Concepts provide practical ways to implement
these assessments and adhere to the principles, helping
to ensure that assessments are both meaningful and
useful in real-world contexts.

Assessment is the systematic basic for making inference about the learning and development
of students. There are six types to assess the learnings and understanding of the students which are
formative, summative, diagnostic, placement, traditional and lastly is authentic. Then the purpose of
assessment is to monitor, providing feedback that will help the students to do better and improve
their selves and to measure their understandings. It also motivates them to keep on learning and
make progress day by day. So, the principles of assessment serve as the guidance to ensure that the
type of assessment given towards the student are reliable, authentic, there is fairness among the
students, sufficiency and most importantly it is equitable.
The key concepts are the fundamental ideas and values that guide the assessment process. It
involves measuring a learner’s knowledge, understanding, skills and standard of learning. The main
idea offers helpful guidance on how to apply this assessment practically while adhering to the
fundamentals, ensuring that the assessment is valuable and relevant in real world situations.
