5. 800 Women Help Desks are functioning in Tamil Nadu. A vehicle and lap
top have been provided to these Women Help Desk units through the
Nirbhaya Fund.

F). Schemes implemented by Law Dept
1. 20 Special courts are functioning across the State for exclusive trial of
cases registered under The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences
Act 2012
2. 32 Family Courts are functioning in the State to promote conciliation and
secure speedy settlement of disputes relating to marriage and family
affairs. 7 additional courts and 4 Holiday Family Courts are functioning in
Chennai and one additional Family court at Coimbatore.
3. 10 Magaliar Neethimandram (Mahila Courts) are functioning in the State
for exclusive trial of cases of crime against women.
4. 32 additional Mahila Court at Judicial Magistrate level is functioning for
trial of case pertaining to cruelty against women.
5. 22 Fast Track Mahila Court are functioning in the State.
6. The special court functioning at Coimbatore District tries the Protection of
Women from Domestic Violence, Act 2005.
