Learning Outcomes:
•Students should be able to design their coat of arms.
•Students should be able to demonstrate the meaning of symbols and the significance of the coat of arms.
Procedures:
Students will create their own shield and family coat of arms including a motto
that reflects the Code of Chivalry Values.
Crest: On the top of the helm. Stood on
a two-colored wreath, a cap (like here)
or a crown.
Mantling: Two-colored drapery
worn by knights below the crest
when jousting. Protects the neck
from the sun.
Helm: Different forms of helmet
show how important people are.
Coat of Arms: The main heraldic de- sign.
Used by knights on their shields to identify
them in battle.
Supporters: They
hold up the shield.
May be two the
Motto: A saying. Often in Latin or French. same or different.
