Design of RC Stairway as per AS3600

Parameters

Density of concrete = 24 kN/m3

Yield Strengt of steel, fsy = 500 Mpa
Concrete Compressive Strength, f'c = 25 Mpa

Length of Stairway (average) = 5.351 m

Width of stairway = 1.625 m
Assumed Depth of Slab = 0.175 m
Tread Dimension = 0.29 m
Riser Dimension = 0.175 m

Preliminary Estimate of Stringer thickness

Ln = 5351 mm
w = 12.7 kPa
K = 1.7
Ds = 212.8569

If Ds < Assumed Slab thickness, adopt a thickness > or = Ds.

Adopted Slab Thickness: 215 mm

Slab Depth Optimisation
To obtain a thinner slab than that given by the deemed-to-comply approach,
the design is carried out in tow stages: stage 1 the reinforcing steel is proportioned
for strength and crack ; in stage 2 a deflection check is made. If the calculated
deflections are either oo small or excessively large, a new trial section is selected and
the strength and deflection calculations are repeated.

Design Load 22.6683 kN/m
