Dear Sir or Madam,
on July 16th, 2024, we had provided an information for you in the erWin portal that the BTAC-box
(also known as “Comserver” or “Smartserver”) will be replaced by a D³ Edge Box in businesses that
own one of those boxes.
For all other businesses that do not operate any of the aforementioned boxes, there will be a change
in the process for updating the ECU software (flashing) with ODIS Service. This change will take
place on October 14th, 2024.
Until now, the flash data was provided as a ZIP archive for download in the erWin portal. This
download will no longer be necessary from the date on. This means that the download of the flash
data will no longer be provided in the erWin portal following this date.
In the future, the necessary flash data will be downloaded by ODIS Service automatically via the
internet from the group systems. A manual download of the flash data will then be unnecessary.
This change in the process is already active and can be used from now on.
Important information:
From October 14th, 2024 on, the usage of the new process is mandatory. The former process must
not be used after that date. Please delete all flash data that you downloaded in the past and that
is stored on your devices.
On the following page you will find a description of the changes to be made in the configuration of
ODIS Service to activate the new ECU update process.

In order to activate the automatic download of flash data during the update process, the following
changes in the configuration must be performed:
• Use ODIS Service version 24.1.1 or newer.
• Launch ODIS Service. In ODIS Admin view navigate to:
o “Connections” and “Mirror server 2”
• Activate the option „Use D³ web infrastructure“.
• Save the changes using the „Save“ button.
From now on, the flash files will be downloaded automatically if needed during the update process.

Additional information regarding the new VW Amarok
In the section „Mirror server 2“ in ODIS Admin view, the option „Use D³ web infrastructure“ must be
deactivated.
Instead, please enter the following URL as „Mirror server URL“:
https://webfd.ft.europe.d3vw.com/
Additionally, please change the value
“de.volkswagen.odis.vaudas.infoservices.grp.always_add_grp_id_token_for_uuid_request“ to “true”
in the “Config.ini” file. See screenshot below.
By default, this value is set to “false“. The default storage path of “Config.ini“ is
“C:\ProgramData\OS\configuration” on your local tester.
This change must be reset when flashing other vehicle types, refer to pages 1 and 2.
