arly Childhood EducationMessage from Head of Research AFAQ
Dear Parents,
During this pandemic, it is important that your child stays home to
remain safe from COVID-19. However, it is equally important to ensure
that your child remains attached to the learning process. To make sure
that your child continues with their learning, we are providing a study
pack containing the first few chapters of textbooks, relevant lesson plans,
worksheets, solution books and assessments on our website
We are not expecting parents to assume the role of full-time teachers.
Complete guidance about teaching is provided in this study pack. You
just need to follow the directions given in lesson plans and worksheets to
further your child's learning. Resource materials related to each topic are
provided on our website, Worksheets will help your children to practise
and reinforce each concept. We will also provide you with assessment
data so you can assess your child's learning using that data.
By doing this you will deliver necessary knowledge imparted by the
teacher. When your child goes to school again InshaAllah, they will not
miss out on any concept and be ready for school exams. So, kindly
follow the instructions and visit our website for resource materials.
We pray to Allah Almighty to protect us all from this threat of the
coronavirus, and wish you and your family the best of health over the
next few weeks.wad

0\\8‘ About The Book
English Beginner is the first book of AFAQ Sun Series Early Childhood
Curriculum. Keeping in mind the needs of learners aged 3 to 4 years, the book

particularly focuses on letter sounds and their formation. After completing the
book, the students would be able to read and decode simple three letter words.
Following the easy to difficult approach, letters have been grouped on the basis of
their formation, so that the young learners would not face any difficulty while
acquiring writing skills. In the light of modern techniques for the ease of writing,
curved letters have been introduced first followed by straight and diagonal letters.
The fist group specifically focuses on anticlockwise movernent of hand, The
second and third group of letters includes clock wise and top to bottom movements
of hand. Whereas inthe next two groups combination ofall three curved, straight
‘and diagonal hand movements have been employed.
Furthermore, letter formation has been practiced with a variety of activities which
include tracing of letter using finger, paint and crayons. Clear instructions have
been given for the teacher about how to deliver the lesson.
To introduce and develop vocabulary, three letter rhyming words have been given
with a variety of activities so that young learners can decode the words easily.
Poem and picture sequencing have been presented with colourful pictures to polish
learner's listening and speaking sls. An eye-catching and attractive layout with
age appropriate graphics has been used throughout the book to gain the attention
of the learners. Workbooks and Teaching Resource Pack has also been designed to.
pfovide additional worksheets and support for the teachers. 7
‘We hope that this book will provide the best possible resource to cater the neo of
