Assignment [50 Marks]: Community Solutions
Objective:
To explore and address real-world problems faced by the common people in nearby places, and
develop innovative solutions through product/process/service design.
Group Formation:
Form groups of 4 students. Ensure diversity in skills and perspectives.
Assignment Breakdown:
1. Visit and Problem Identification (20 Marks)
Point 1 (10 Marks): Conduct a group visit to any nearby places (e.g., market, shops, food stalls,
village fair, hotels, roadside small hotels, food corners). [Attach Photograph of Group field work in
the Report]
Point 2 (10 Marks): Identify and document the problems faced by common people in those places.
Consider issues related to accessibility, affordability, convenience, and overall well-being.
2. Analysis and Selection (10 Marks)
Point 3 (5 Marks): Conduct a thorough analysis of the identified problems. Consider factors such as
frequency, severity, and impact on the community.
Point 4 (5 Marks): Decide on one or two problems that your group aims to solve. Provide rationale for
the selection.
3. Solution Design (10 Marks)
Point 5 (5 Marks): Develop a detailed design for the product/process/service that addresses the chosen
problem(s). Include technical specifications, features, and potential impact.
Point 6 (5 Marks): Create a concept sketch illustrating the envisioned product/process/service. Clearly
depict the design elements and functionality.
4. Report Presentation (10 Marks)
Overall Report Presentation (5 Marks): Ensure a well-organized and articulate written report. Include
an introduction, methodology, findings, and conclusion.
Writing Quality (5 Marks): Assess the clarity, coherence, and grammar of the report. Use proper
citation if applicable.
Submission Guidelines:
• Submit a HANDWRITTEN report along with the concept sketch Through
Google Classroom. It must be single PDF file.
• The Last Date of Submission is 31st August 2024
• Ensure that the report is neatly organized, and each section is clearly labelled.
• Highlight key findings and proposed solutions.
• Demonstrate creativity and critical thinking in problem-solving.
