Great Example of how this assignment should be written up:

Museum

Transportation: We met in the AC courtyard at 5:00 PM and walked together
to the museum. It was a pleasant 20-minute walk through the city streets.
Companions: I went with my classmates from our FYS course.
Reason for Choosing: I selected the visit to the Bechtler Museum of Modern
Art because of my growing interest in art and its diverse forms. The
opportunity to view renowned artworks up close and to discuss them with
peers and experts seemed invaluable. Moreover, I was intrigued by the idea
of exploring how modern art reflects the cultural and societal contexts in
which it was created.
Enjoyment Factor: The trip exceeded my expectations. The museum's
collection was stunning, featuring works by artists such as Picasso, Warhol,
and Giacometti. Each piece seemed to tell a story, and I found myself lost in
contemplation, trying to decipher the messages and emotions conveyed.
What I Liked: We were encouraged to share our interpretations of the art and
engage in discussions with fellow students. It was fascinating to hear
different perspectives and to see how art can evoke such varied reactions
and emotions.
What I Would Have Liked Offered as Activities:
1. Outdoor Sculpture Park Visit: Exploring a local sculpture park could be an
engaging way to connect with art in nature. It would offer a blend of artistic
appreciation and outdoor exploration.
2. Guest Speaker Series: Having artists or scholars visit our class to discuss their
work or a relevant topic would be inspiring. It could provide direct insights into the
creative process and contemporary issues in the art world.
3. Culinary Workshop: A workshop focusing on the cultural significance of food,
perhaps tied to our discussions on identity, would be intriguing. Learning to cook a
traditional dish or exploring a local cuisine could offer a sensory experience tied to
our academic themes.
The visit to the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and the Mint Museum was a
memorable experience that deepened my appreciation for art and its ability
to provoke thought and spark conversations. It was a welcome break from
our usual class setup, allowing us to step into the vibrant world of modern art
and explore its many facets together. The walk from the AC courtyard added
to the experience, giving us a chance to chat and build anticipation for the
art we were about to encounter.
