Essay

Introduction:
Leo, the world’s most popular Russian writer, was born in Yasnaya Polyana, on
September 9 1828, With the knowledge of many languages,Leo became a polyglot. Failing
to get a government position, he ended up serving in the army. It was during this time that
Leo began writing , his important works are 1. “War and Peace.” 2. “Anna Karenina” and 3.
“Resurrection” As a master storyteller, Leo wrote numerous short stories with moral lessons
in them. On Nov 20 1910, Leo Tolstoy died at the age of 82 due to pneumonia, the Story
shows how greed destroys man.

The Evil Decided to Ruin Pahom :

Pahom was a hardworking peasant. One day, his wife’s elder sister, who had married
a merchant in the town, used the comforts and luxuries that they had in town. The younger
sister admitted that theirs was a harder life. But then they always had enough to eat. Pahom
overheard this conversation. He agreed with his wife. But he also felt that to be permanently
above worries because he didn’t have sufficient knowledge. If he had learned enough, he
wouldn’t be afraid even of the devil. The devil heard him and decided to ruin Pahom by
playing on his greed.

sense of Ownership Made Pahom less Generous

Pahom’s village had a lady with 300 acres of land. Her steward heavily fined their
peasants whenever their cathel stratified into the fields. So when the lady offered to sell her
property, Pahom borrowed money and bought 40 acres of land. The sense of ownership
made Pahom less generous & forgiving. He fined neighbouring peasants for trespassing on
his property. In revenge, the neighbour destroyed five of the trees.

Pahome’s ambition couldn’t rest :

One day, a presenter who visited his house told him that there was fertile but cheap
land available, beyond the volga, he got 125 acres for his family. The land made him ten
times richer. Pahom’s ambriation could not rest. He started renting fallow land from other
landholders and raising more wheat. After three years, he felt he would be happier if he
owned more land. A horse-dealer dropped into his house.

Pahom’s Greed Blazing

The dealer told Pahom of the land of the bashkirs, far away. The bashkirs were
simple people who would give away. Large tracts of land for a few presents, like carpets,
dressing-gowns or tea. Pahom’s greed was by now blazing.

Pahom has a horrible dream

Their chief tells Pahom he can have for a thousand roubles as much land as he can
circumscribe on his feet in a day. That night, Pahom has a horrible dream. He sees the
bashkir chief, the figure turns first into that of the horse-dealer and then of the peasant who
told him of the volga. Finally he sees it is the devil, complete with horns and hoover and
before the devil lies a dead man whom Pahom recognizes with horror as himself.

Happiness lies in one’s contentment

As the son starts sinking, he summons up all his strength and clashes up the hill. The
bashkirs cheer him with a cry. Pahom falls forward, rouches the cap and collapses. He has
gained thousands of acres of fertile land, but he does not live to enjoy even a bit of it.

Conclusion:
When his servant buries him, only six feet of land are needed for the purpose
Pahom’s tragedy teaches us that happiness does not lie in the quantity of one’s possessions
but in one’s contentment

The Best Investment I Have Ever Made

LANDLADY, POLICEMAN AND DOCTOR HELP THE YOUNG MAN
The landlady, the policeman and the doctor helped the young man. Each helped the
man in his own way. The sergeant reported on the case. So no court proceedings would
result. The landlady offered a free board for a month. The author made the minor
contribution of seven pounds and ten shillings to put back in the safe.
“Luck is a state without reason. Explore it and it will disappear."

The Best Investment

The doctor considered his investment to be the best investment he had ever made.
He had given the money to be returned to the soldier’s office. This investment of seven
pounds and ten shillings was more profitable than any other investment. This amount helped
the young man to lead a new life. The young man had later become the director of an
organisation which took care of the welfare of young boys and girls from slum.

CONCLUSION

The young man was saving the adolescent boy and girl from going astray and helping them
become worthy members of the community The saving of Mr John from death and giving
him money was a good investment. Dr. A. J. Cronin was satisfied with the best investment
made on Mr. John.

“Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, but only saps today of its strength.”

Seven ways to boost your energy

Introduction
Robin Sharma's article “ 7 Ways to Boost Your Energy“ is composed of the primary
principles of character upon which happiness and success are based. According to sharma,
his father is his biggest inspiration and philosopher. It puts forward a principle centred
approach to both personal and interpersonal effectiveness. Good habits encourage us to
realise that we are in charge of our own life.

Seven ways to boost one’s energy

One : Exercise for 30 minutes 4 times a week :

To keep body and mind clean, pure and healthy, we should given attention to our
physical body. We must exercise on a regular basis we do not have to run a marathon or Lift
tons of weight. We only need to engage in activities that generate oxygen in out blood. We
must exercise at least 30 minutes 4 times a week. Even a quick ten minute walk will increase
our energy and boost our mind. Exercise of the body is as much a necessity as food.

Two: Spend time in nature on a weekly basis :

We must spend our time in nature on a weekly basis. As the happy and healthy men,
we have room among the hills of the forest. Nature then brings a tranquil mood. Nature
offers a healthy balm to all the ills of life.

Three: don’t eat after 8:00 pm

Starting our day with healthy eating is a good habit that forms a crucial part of our
life. We should not eat after 8:00 PM

Four: Get a massage every week :

Massage is pressing and rubbing the body. Usually, with the hands, especially the
muscles and joints, in order to lessen pain, stiffness, etc., We must get a massage every
week.

Five : Eat an elite performance diet, completely cutting out junk food :
It is true that food affects our energy. Processed foods, simple carbohydrates and
fatty foods have a negative effect on our energy level because they cause a hike in blood
sugar. We must aim to eat a diet rich in complex carbs (vegetables, fruits) , healthy fats and
clean protein.

Six : Read somethings inspiring for 30 minutes as the first thing every morning (It will
energise us)
The main aim of the reading activity is to enrich the knowledge of students by adding
to their experiences and information. It also helps them learn languages. We must read
something inspiring for 30 minutes every morning.

Seven : Drink lots of water

Water is a fundamental factor that our body needs to complete its daily to-do list. We
must drink lots of water to keep our bodies healthy.

Conclusion :
Habits are acts that men indulge in to satisfy their needs. Drinking water, taking
breakfast and sleeping at night are habits based on instincts. Listening to music and reading
a book are good habits that help a man live a peaceful life.
Stopping by woods
Introduction
Robert Frost was born on March 26, 1874, in California. He attended Dartmouth
College and Harvard University. His famous works are “ A Boy’s Will," “North Bsgn," and “
New Hampshire.”. He won the Pulitzer Prize for his collection, “New Hampshire.”. He died on
January 29, 1963, in Boston. And he is the only writer to receive the pulitzer prize for four
times in literature
About the poem :
It is a poem about nature and man’s relationship of nature. The main themes of the
poem are isolation, responsible and man to nature. The poet is attracted the snow. Filled
forests have beauty. He stops, and his horse remains still gazing at the scene.

The similarity between the narrator’s horse and the owner of the woods :
Both the horse and the owner of the woods lack aesthetic sense. The owner stays
with him, the horse is better. It has at least the physical strength to bear the cold. But it has
no capacity to appreciate the beauty of the snow. It is puzzling that the narrator is standing
still. It wonders whether anything has gone wrong with him. It rang the bells to hint the
narrator that he had better move on as his home is far away.

The narrator’s dilemma :

The narrator is struck between the forest and the home. The forest, which is coated
with fake snow, has an uncommon beauty. At the same time, he is aware that he cannot stay
here forever. He cannot forget the commitments that await him at home. He has to travel a
long distance before going home and lying down to sleep. He has commitments to himself,
to his dear ones, and to society.

The symbols in the poem :

Each object in the poem is a symbol. The forest might stand for life. The evening
might represent the late stage in one’s life. The poet is in a late state of life. The many miles
to be covered stand for many responsibilities to be fulfilled. Sleep symbolises death. He had
to battle with many problems, so he had to avoid thinking of death.

Conclusion :
This poem manages to convey subtle yet deep questions about life, death and our
relationship with the natural world. The basic conflict in the poem is resolved in the last
stanza. The conflict is between the attraction towards woods and the pull of responsibility
outside the woods.
“ And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep . “

A.K. Begins the chapter with a wote mahatma gandhi which highlights the importance
of having faith in oneself. He decided to meet students so that he could ask them of their
dreams and tell them it was perfectly alright to lead a good life, an abundant life full of
pleasure and work for that golden Era. When the students asked him where and how to get
a role models.

come from those people. “Behind the parents stands the school. And behind the teacher
stands the home.

intelligent question by a clever boy. The boy wanted to know. Who our enemy was, the
answer too came from the student. He said it was “ poverty”.

Role models lead to great success.

According to Kalam, role models can help us focus on what is rightcorrect for us as
individuals. He gives the ocample of Dr. Vikram Sarabhai,Sarabhai whose vision succeeded
over three decades through sustained and coordinated achievement at work. And he
mentions Latha Mangeshkar a renowned playback singer and B.R. awarded who also does
several services to people and whose song “ A more watan ke logo” moved the entire nation
during a major crisis.

Ancient India was a knowledge society and a leader in many intellectual pursuits,
pursuits particularly in the fieldsfield of mathematics, medicine and astronomy . the prose
ends with a positive note that
“ A renaissance is imperative for us to once again become a knowledge superpower
