Task 1: Line graph sample
I-Structure:
1. Introduction: paraphrase the subject (1 sentence)
2. Overview: Find out 2 generals
3. Body 1: Decribe the figures, data and trend of the diagram through
comparisons. (2-4 sentences)
4. Body 2: Similar to “Body 1”
II-Structure Notes
- The length of the whole task must be at least 150 words and shouldn’t be
more than 180 words (from 7-11 sentences)
- Identify what tense the diagram implies:
+ If the data are from the past (e.g. 1980, 2004,…), use past tenses (past
simple, past perfect)
+ If the data are predictions for the future, do not use “will”. You should
use words that describe future trends like: BE + expected, predicted,
estimated, …
- Do not give detailed data in the introduction or overview paragraph.
