JOURNAL 5TH WEEK
August 12, 2024. Today is Monday, and we're on duty at the goat project "Gatas ni Juan at Juana." This morning,
we first cleaned the feeding and drinking areas of the goats. We fed them with feed and bottle-fed the young
goats, then filled their feeding areas with Napier grass. They said that Napier grass grows faster when fertilized,
taking only about a month, while it takes up to two months without fertilizer. In the afternoon, we were divided
into two groups—our group herded the goats, while the other group collected Napier grass from the mountains.
Herding goats is challenging because they wander everywhere; they even climb the mountains and head towards
the Napier grass fields.
August 13, 2023. It was a Tuesday, and we were on duty at the goat project "Gatas ni Juan at Juana." This morning,
we started by cleaning the feeding and drinking areas of the goats. We then fed them with feeds and bottle-fed the
young goats, followed by placing Napier grass in their feeding areas. In the afternoon, we took the goats out to
graze, each of us handling one of the five goats along with Sir Julius. After that, we collected Napier grass to feed
the goats for the afternoon. We repeated the routine—cleaning, feeding, and bottle-feeding the young goats.
August 14, 2024. It was Wednesday, and we followed the same routine as before—cleaning, feeding the goats
with feeds, giving them Napier grass, changing their drinking water, bottle-feeding the young ones, and hanging
salt on the bamboo poles since goats are known to like salt. In the afternoon, we collected banana leaves to feed
the goats and placed them in their outdoor pen. Others gathered Napier grass while we carried the banana leaves
in sacks to bring to the goat pen. After we finished carrying the leaves, we all helped in cutting the Napier grass.
August 15, 2024. It was Thursday, and we followed the same routine—cleaning, feeding the goats with feeds,
giving them Napier grass, changing their drinking water, bottle-feeding the young ones, and sweeping under the
goat pens. In the afternoon, we gathered the goat droppings from under the pens and placed them around the
Napier grass plants to help them grow faster. Afterward, we cleaned the goat pens since the goats were out. Once
we finished cleaning, we collected more Napier grass and carried it to Sir's house for chopping before placing it in
the goat pens.
August 16, 2024. It was Friday, and we followed our usual routine—cleaning, feeding the goats with feeds, giving
them Napier grass, changing their drinking water, and bottle-feeding the young ones. In the afternoon, we herded
the goats with their kids along with two male goats. Afterward, we cleaned the goat pens while the goats were out.
Once we finished cleaning, we gathered Napier grass and carried it to Sir's house for chopping before placing it in
the goat pens.
August 17, 2024. It was Saturday, and we were on duty at the Business Affairs Office (BAO). We were waiting for
products from the QNAS projects. We assisted customers shopping at the BAO and also helped those
accommodating the hotel and swimming pool. The tasks at BAO are usually repetitive. The only difference today
was that there were only five of us on duty at the Business Affairs Office because the others were in a different
office handling important school documents.
