Lesson Title/ Topic: Biological Organization

Name: Grade & Section:

I. Activity No.5: Nature's Layers: Exploring Levels of Life in the Wild

II. Objective(s): At the end of the lesson, students should be able to observe and understand
the different levels of biological organization present in a natural environment.

III. Materials Needed:

Field notebooks or paper
Pencils or pens
Magnifying glasses (optional)
Binoculars (optional)

IV. Instructions:
1. Choose a nearby natural area such as a park, forest, or field for your outdoor exploration.
2. Go to your small groups, each with a field notebook and writing materials.
3. Explain the concept of levels of biological organization, starting from the individual
organism to the biosphere.
4. Your teacher will assign a specific area within the chosen environment for your group to
explore.
5. Observe and record your findings at different levels of organization. Use your senses to
observe individual organisms, communities, ecosystems, and interactions between
different organisms.
6. As you explore, answer the prompt questions about what you observed.
7. After the exploration, gather the groups together and have each group share their
observations and findings.
8. Present to class the different levels of biological organization you encountered and how
they contribute to the overall functioning of the ecosystem.
9. Reflect on the interconnectedness of life within the natural environment.
10. Discuss to the class the importance of conservation and how understanding levels of
biological organization can help in preserving ecosystems.
