1. Passive Voice
1.1. Roles (8 points)

1.4. Application (24 points)

Instructions for each level


WG4: Choose two active sentences and two passive sentences from each paragraph, and change
them to passive voice and active voice, respectively.

WG5: Rewrite the first paragraph in passive voice. Choose two passive sentences from the
second paragraph and rewrite them in active voice.

WG6: Rewrite both paragraphs—the first one in passive voice and the second one in active
voice.

ACTIVE
The scientist conducted a series of experiments to test the new hypothesis. She collected data
from multiple trials and analyzed the results carefully. After weeks of work, she discovered a
significant correlation between the variables. Her findings attracted the attention of several
prominent researchers. They invited her to present her research at an international conference.
The scientist gladly accepted the invitation and shared her groundbreaking work with the
scientific community.

PASSIVE
A gourmet meal was prepared by the chef for the event. The ingredients were arranged
meticulously on the counter. After an hour of hard work, the dishes were presented to the guests.
The vibrant colors and rich aromas were admired by the attendees. As the food was eaten, the
chef was complimented on the complexity of flavors. By the end of the evening, high praise had
been earned by the chef from everyone who tasted the food.

2. Adverb Clauses
