Distance: Sri Rangam is about 9 to 10 kms from Trichy bus station or railway station.
Route: Since Sri Rangam is within city limits, it is advised to consult a taxi or auto
driver for the route from Trichy to Sri Rangam.
In such cases, use the special queue for dharshan priced Rs. 50 and Rs. 30
respectively (in 2008).
If you are visiting Sri Rangam for the first time, it is advised to spend half a day
exploring the temple and its history.

Route: From Tiruchirapalli or Sri Rangam join the Trichy - Chennai Trunk road and
drive up to the toll gate.
At toll gate left turn to join State Highway #25 which goes to Thuraiyur.

The temple is on to your right hand.
Route: From Tiruchirapalli bus station join the Trichy - Chennai trunk road.

Route: From Tirchy bus station, join Tirchy - Chennai Trunk road and drive up to toll
gate.
Route: From Thiru Anbil, to reach Thirupper Nagar consult local people about
crossing the river Kollidam to reach Thirupper Nagar.
From Thanjavur the route is via Thiruvaiyur, Kallanai, Koviladi and then
Thirupper Nagar.

If travelling from Thiruvaiyur then travel south for 4 kms only towards

Kabisthalam.
Stay on the main road to take a right turn towards Thiruvaikavur road
Route: From Oppaliappan Kovil ask the local taxi or auto or people to guide to
Nachchiyar Kovil.
Route: From Kumbakonam travel towards Kodavasal via Sakkottai, Nachiyar Koil up

While driving towards Kuttalam look for left turn to join Komal road to reach
Thiruvazhunthoor.
On the Mayavaram Peralam road left turn towards Pavattakudi (do not drive up

approach Nangur temple arch i.e.
When you drive from Sirkazhi towards Nangur first you will see the Jamia
Masji to your left.
Left turn immediately after Jamia Masjid and drive 2 kms along the road will
lead you to Thiru Devanaar Thogai.

Route: From Kanchipuram bus station travel towards Sri Varadharaja Perumal
Temple.
Route: From Thirukkachchi drive back towards bus station for about 2 kms.
Route: Ask local people. From Thiru Vekka via Vilakadi Kovil Street and then to
Singara Perumal Street.
NOTE: Your Car or Tempo Traveller or Bus cannot reach this temple.
You got to take a walk from "Vallai Pachiappan Street" or from "Vilakadi Kovi
Street."
You will have to ask the priest in Kamakshiamman temple to show you Sri
Aadhi Varaha Perumal.
Route: From Pallavaram travel on Southern Great Trunk road and right turn
Thiruneermalai main road up to Thiruneermalai temple.
Route: From Chennai travel on East Coast Road towards Mahabalipuram. Temple is
on the main road.
From Thiru Nindravoor railway station travel south 2 kms to reach the temple.

Route: From Arakkonam travel on State Highway #61 up to Sholingur temple arch.
It takes 90 minutes to walk/climb 1305 steps and may vary depending on your walking pace.
From Sholingur bus stand or from the temple arch on the main road travel by a shared auto
rickshaw and ask the auto driver to drop you at the footsteps of the hill (3 to 4 kms from bus
stand).
Rs. 5 per person (in 2008) in shared auto rickshaw from Sholingur bus stand to the temple
footsteps.
Travel by the auto rickshaw up to the footsteps of the hill to save time and energy else you will be
tired walking in hot sun and find difficult walking 1305 steps.
Devotees will have to walk/climb 1305 steps by foot and no alternate arrangements are made to
reach the temple. There is no rope car to climb the temple nor winch. However, there is a coolie
service available. It costs Rs. 600 per person (in 2008) which includes both ascending and
descending the hill.
Note: This temple is on top of a hill. While walking 1305 steps you will come across several tens of
monkeys in groups which are hungry and look for people carrying eatables such as bannana,
coconut, fruits, flowers and soft drinks. Those monkeys always look out for people carrying food,
flowers or bags. They attack in groups and grab eatables, ladies vanity bags, ladies purse,
luggage bag, and cell phones from gents’ shirt pocket. They will not spare the flowers which
ladies wear on their hair/behind the head. They will grab those flowers and eat. You cannot fight
the monkeys. To overcome them, walk in empty hands.
Also at the footsteps of the hill buy a lengthy stick/cane costs Rs. 2 (in 2008). Do not beat the
monkeys with the cane/stick as they are harmless. Use them only to scare the monkeys. If you
beat them, they will get angry, you will be a victim and seen in the hospital.
Do not walk or climb steps alone as sometimes monkeys are dangerous. Even if you want to sit
and rest, sit in a group and rest. Do not sit or sleep alone. Always walk in a group of 5+ people. Do
carry water bottles without fail as you will be tired of walking.

Route: From Madurai travel on State Highway # 72 and right turn to join Alanganallur -
Alagarkovil road.
Route: From Madurai Periyar bus station via Mattuthavani bus station, Melur,
Tirupattur, Tirukostiyur.
Route: From Madurai Periya bus station via Mattuthavani bus station, Melur,
Tirupattur, K. Palliavasal, Tirumayam.
1 km from Sivakasi.
Route: From Madurai travel towards Thiruparankundram, Tirumangalam,
Virudhunagar and then to Sivakasi.
Do not drive up to Sivakasi bus station as you will approach temple first and
then comes Sivakasi bus station.

and plan to stay at Tirunelveli.

All the 9 Divya Desams can be seen in half a day time between 7 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.
By 7 a.m. you have to be at Sri Vaikundam Divya Desam so that you can see all 9 Divya Desam by
11:45 a.m.
It is about 100 to 110 kms from Tirunelveli round trip to visit all 9 Divya Desams and back to
Tirunelveli.
If you can depart Tirunelveli by 6:15 a.m., you can come back by 2 p.m. after visiting all 9 Divya
Desams.
73. Thiruvaikuntham (Sri Vaikundam) - Sri Vaikundanatha Perumal Temple
Route: From Thirukkulanthai travel towards Mangalamkurichi and then right turn
towards Mangalapuram up to Thiruttholai Villimangalam.
You can reach Thiruttholai Villimangalam from Perunkulam via Eral also. But
the distance is three times.
From Mangalapuram after driving for about 0.9 kms, see to your right for a
bridge.
Drive on the bridge to join a muddy road and drive along the road until you
reach tar road.
Right turn as soon as you join tar road and drive straight until you reach
Thirupperai or Then Thiruppaerai.
Route: From Thirukkoloor drive back to join state highway and straight towards Alwar
Thirunagiri.
Travel Base: No need for an accommodation/stay. Check out from your lodge at Tirunelveli
and travel towards Nanguneri.
Route: From Nanguneri join National Highway #7 and travel up to Tirukkurungudi via
Veerankulam, Ervadi, Thalavaipuram.

and right turn to join State Highway # 180 and drive up to Thiru Vattaaru.
Travel Base: No need for an accommodation/stay. Check out from your lodge at Nagercoil.
Distance: 1.5 kms from Thiruvananthapuram bus station and railway station.
Check out from your lodge at Nagercoil and travel towards, Thiru Vattaaru and
then from Thiru Vattaaru towards Thiruvananthapuram.
Note: Both gents and ladies will have to wear white vaste/dhothi inorder to enter inside the
temple. White dhothi is available for rent at the temple entrance at the right hand corner. However,
we advise that you use your own. Ladies can wrap the white dhothi on top of the saree. White
dhothi for rent is very expensive and there is no fixed pricing and they do cheat. Cell phones and
cameras are strictly not allowed inside the temple. Those need to be kept at the locker at the right
hand corner of the temple entrance. The locker is very expensive and they do cheat in terms of
pricing as there is no fixed pricing. We advise you to drop your cell phones, cameras, shoes,
chappal and luggage in your vehicle itself and be safe.
There are 6 most beautiful Divya Desam which you can see in one day by staying at Chengannur.
6 Divya Desam round trip from Chengannur and back is around 95 kms which can be seen in one
day.
Route: From Chengannur railway station travel on MC road for about 900 meters until
you see a over head railway bridge.
Immediately after the railway bridge left turn straight road leads to the temple.
Route: From Chengannur railway station travel on MC road for about 5 kms up to
Pravumkood (Dove House).
At the dove house immediately left turn drive along the road will lead you to
Thiruvanvandoor.
Route: From Thiruvalla temple, join Ambalapuzha Thiruvalla highway and drive up to
Thiruvalla to join MC road.
3 kms from National Highway # 47 near Edapally toll junction (We advise you
use this road)
While driving from Kottayam to Ernakulam, once you reach National Highway
#47 near Ernakulam, at Palarivattom
on National Highway #47 right turn to join pipe line road. On pipe line road
drive until you join Edappally Pukkattupady road.
On Edappally Pukkattupady road right turn and you will reach the temple.
Route #2: On National Highway # 47 you can take a right turn at Edapally toll to join
Edappally Pukkattupady road and drive up to the temple.

Then right turn to join Angamaly Kanakankadavu road and drive along the

This Divya Desams is very well known throughout the world and visited by devotees.
Route: From Tirupathi there is only one road that leads up to Tirumala via Alipiri and
one road that leads down.
Note: Unlike other Divya Desams, you cannot go to Tirumala to see the lord without
advance planning.

From Gorakhpur India to Mukthinath Nepal via Gorakhpur, India Nepal border, Bhairawa, Pokhra,
Jomsom, Mukthinath.
Pokhra to Jomsom by flight Rs. 2000 in the year 2009 both to and fro. Jomsom to Mukthinath by
jeep. Final 2 kms by walk to temple.
Return same day back to Jomsom and halt at hotel.
Travel Advise:
Once you arrive at Jomsom by airplane from Pokhara, we strongly recommend that you stay one
night in Jomsom in order to prevent high altitude sickness. Next day go to Mukthinath.
In Nepal, Indian currencies of Rs. 1,000/-, and Rs. 500/- denominations, will NOT be accepted, and
devotees are requested to carry only Hundred Rupees denominations of Indian Currencies.
Indian citizens do not need passport nor visa to Nepal. Voter ID card or Driving license should be
carried to cross in to Nepal border.
Do not go to Muktinath during the raining season (June, July, August and the beginning of
September) because of the possibility of landslides. Due to bad weather also there is a great
chance planes do not fly from Pokhara to Jomson and back for days. Taking a helicopter can be
the alternative.
In November and February it can be cold, but you can travel. December and January are for the
die hards as it is way too cold.
