BACKGROUND OF THE INTERNSHIP

This internship report is based on the experiences and insights gained during my internship at Kanyaspin Spinning
Mill, specifically within the Marketing Department. Kanyaspin Spinning Mill is a prominent textile company known for its
high-quality yarn production and strong market presence in both domestic and international markets. The company has
established a reputation for its commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction. During my internship, I was
exposed to various marketing functions such as market analysis, competitor benchmarking, customer segmentation, and
digital marketing strategies. I was also involved in assisting with the development and execution of marketing campaigns
aimed at enhancing the visibility and demand for Kanyaspin's products. This report aims to provide a comprehensive

DESCRIPTION OF THE ORGANIZATION

2.1 COMPANY PROFILE:

2.1.1 HISTORY OF KANYA SPIN:

The Kanyakumari District co-operative spinning mills was registered on 21.10.1963 and started its production from
09.12.1965. During this period, the mill installed 24,960 spindles (Licensed capacity 25,000). In order to supply varieties
of yarn to the weavers in the mill, there were machines for producing yarns of different counts of 20s, 30s, 40s, 80s, &
100s and also Hank yarn of 2/17, 2/40/2/60 & 2/80 and cone yarn of 20s, 30s, 40s, 60s and 80s. In addition the mill
produced cotton/polyester yarns 52s, 62s and 2/80s. Four generations were installed in order to run the mill during power
shortage.

South Indian mills concentrate mostly on spinning & supply of yarn to the handloom sector, K.K. District co-operative
spinning mills ltd, Aralvaimozhi is also one of them which produces yarn. Certain varieties like theTurkish towels,
produced in this area have been well known all over the country.Spinning is a major part of the textile industry. Itis part of
the textile manufacturing process where three types of fiber are converted into yarn, then fabrics, which undergo finishing
processes such as bleachingto become textiles. The textiles are than fabricated into clothes or other products. There are
three industrial process available to spin yarn, and a handicraft community who use hand spinning techniques. Spinning is
twisting together of drawn out strands of fibers to form yarn, though it is colloquially used to describe the process of
drawing out, inserting the twist, and winding into bobbins. Spinning is the foundation process and all the subsequent value
additions i.e., weaving, knitting, processing, affects the entire value chain

The Indian textile Industry is one of the largest and oldest sectors in the country and
among the most important in the economy in terms of output investment and
employment. The sector employs nearly 35 million people and after agriculture, is the
second – highest employer in the country

2.3.1. Product profile:

The Kanyakumari District Co-operative spinning mill limited, Aralvaimozhi is a trust


worthy manufacturer, exporter, Importer and supplier of the Dyed Cotton Yarn and the
Recycled Dyed Cotton Yarn, operating from Tamil Nadu . They are Specialized in
completing the bulk demands of these products with in the promised time. Cotton is a
natural fibre and due to its property like absorbency, technical properties due to which it
can be spun to very wide range of counts and varieties of yarn and comfort properties
cotton find used in very wind application of textile industries.

The raw material is the waste of other cotton spinning mills it is available at a low cost.
The cotton received the mill is weighted and records the weight of each bale. Each strand
is made up of fibres, all shorter than the piece yarn that the form. These short fibres are

spun into longer filaments to make the yarn.

PRODUCT:
YARN:

Yarn is a raw material produced from the fibres, Which is used for making fibrics
or textiles and later used to make different cloths out of the fabrics. Waste cotton gets
transferred into yarn through mixing, blowing, drawing and open end spinning. The raw
material is the waste of other cotton spinning mills it is available at a low cost. The cotton
received by the mill is weighted and records weight of each bale.

The term spinning can be referred to the whole activity or just to the final
process of making the yarn from fibres. There are two types of yarn in spinning
industry.

Hank yarn is the output of the reeling process in production


planning of spinning industries. It is a process of making or converting
the fibre materials into yarns. There are two types of hank yarn varieties:

Cone yarn is the output of the winding process in the production. Winding is the process
of creating large yarn packages called cone from a number of small yarn packages in
order to make use of yarn in subsequent machinery.
