 Qualitative research design is used to explore human

experiences of a phenomenon. The aim of a qualitative
research is to explore the essence of human experience as
shared by the participants. Qualitative research does not aim
for generalization, rather it seeks to understand the breadth
F. Generalizing and abstractions about the and depth of human experiences through the stories of the
lesson participants.
 Qualitative research is naturalistic as there are no
manipulations made to the participants of the research. It
unfolds naturally in a natural setting. The most common
methods used to capture human experiences are interview,
focus group discussion, observation and document analysis.
Directions: Given the following objectives, which research design
will be more appropriate to use? Write either Qualitative or
Quantitative and give your reason why (2 pts. each).
1. To find out the cause of why things happen
2. To discover the shared lived experiences of people who experience
a phenomenon
G. Evaluative learning 3. To describe and experience the different ways of life by living and
