Q2 Week 5-6 (Learning Activity Worksheet)

Target Competency: Discuss the interactions among living things and non-living things in
tropical rainforests, coral reefs and mangrove swamps.
ACTIVITY 6
Describe- Me-UP
Harmful effects and implications to communities if rainforests, coral reefs, and
mangrove swamps are not protected and conserved

The tropical rainforests, coral reefs and mangrove swamps are very important to our
environment. It helps maintain relationships with our ecosystem. They are home to many
animals.

The constant destruction of them brings about the destruction of our nature. Animals
that live in the rainforests may lose their homes. Floods may also occur due depleted trees that
absorb excess water during rainy season. Depletion of our rainforest will also cause climate
change; climate change brings a warm atmosphere. The loss of rainforests, coral reefs at
mangrove swamps will also cause the loss of livelihood among people. If rainforests, coral
reefs, and mangrove swamps continue to deteriorate they will lead to a depletion of people’s
food. So, we must take care of our environment for our future.

Directions: Study the pictures below. What are the harmful effects and implications to
communities, environments, and human beings if tropical rainforests, coral
reefs and mangrove swamps are not conserved and protected?
