The Wireless Mobile Component Development course provides delegates with NEW hands-on experience developing mobile applications on the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME platform) using Connected, Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) and the Mobile Interface Device Profile (MIDP). The course provides information about MIDP 1.0 and MIDP 2.0 concepts and capabilities.
The Developing Applications for the J2EE Platform course provides delegates with the knowledge to build and deploy enterprise applications that comply with Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) standards. The enterprise components presented in this course include Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) technology, servlets, and JavaServer Pages (JSP) technology, and the Java technology clients that use them. Delegates gain hands-on experience through labs that build an end-to-end, distributed business application. The labs explore session EJB components, which implement the Session Facade pattern and provide a front-end to entity EJB components using containermanaged persistence. The labs also explore message-driven EJB components, which act as Java Message Service (JMS) consumers. Delegates use Web and Java technology clients to access Java technology-based enterprise services using servlets and pages created with JSP technology (JSP pages). Delegates are taught how to assemble an application from reusable components and deploy an application into the J2EE platform runtime environment.
DTX-110
Introduction to XML
Length: 4 Days INSTRUCTOR-LED The Introduction to XML course provides delegates with the principles and use of XML (eXtensible Markup Language). The course takes a hands-on approach. It begins with the concepts of tagging and markup and moves quickly to more advanced topics, such as validation and presentation. The course teaches key XML technologies, such as Document Type Definitions (DTDs), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), eXtensible Style Language for Transformation (XSLT), and schemas. The course labs employ Java technology. The course materials include a copy of XML, In a Nutshell from OReilly and Associates, Inc., as reference material for the course.
OO-226
Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML
Length: 5 Days INSTRUCTOR-LED The Object-Oriented Analysis and Design with UML course effectively combines instruction on the software development processes, object-oriented technologies, and the Unified Modelling Language (UML). This instructor-led course uses lecture, group discussion, and facilitator-led activities (such as analysing stakeholder interviews) to present one practical, complete, Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) roadmap from requirements gathering to system deployment.
DWS-310
Web Services for Java Technology Programmer
Length: 2 Days INSTRUCTOR-LED The Web Services for Java Technology Programmers course provides delegates with an overview of Web services. The course lab exercises demonstrate Web service technology with a suite of RPC-style Web services created using Java technology components and APIs and accessed by Web-based clients through a servlet endpoint. Delegates can apply the knowledge gained in this course to develop new RPC-style Web services or expose existing application functionality as an RPC-style Web service.

The Fundamentals of the Java Programming Language course provides delegates with an excellent choice for beginning to learn to program using the Java programming language. This course is intended for delegates with little or no programming experience. This course teaches the significance of object-oriented programming, the keywords and constructs of the Java programming language, and the steps required to create simple Java programs. A fantastic new teaching tool developed by Sun is used throughout the course to help the learner more readily understand the syntax and semantics of the language. Delegates taking this course can receive a solid basis in the Java programming language upon which to base continued work and training.
The Java Programming Language Workshop course provides delegates with practical experience in designing a vertical solution for a distributed, multi-tier application. Delegates employ graphical interface design principles and network communications capabilities to code a functional Java application that interacts with a networked database server. The significant amount of lab time illustrates the workshop nature of this course.
SL-265
Java Technology for Structured Programmers
Length: 5 Days INSTRUCTOR-LED The Java Technology for Structured Programmers course teaches delegates the Java programming language which is the language of choice for integrating legacy systems with e-commerce applications. This course provides delegates with an intensive introduction to Java programming language basics, such as syntax and Application Programming Interface (API) structures, and Object-Oriented (OO) concepts, as well as related subjects, such as Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) and event-driven processing. By performing hands-on exercises using the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE), Software Development Kit (Java 2 SDK), participants can also learn how to code Java technology applications and applets that perform exception handling and access data with Java technology file Input/Output (I/O) features. Class discussions explore the benefits and uses of Java technology in the legacy environment.
SL-314
Web Component Development with Servlet and JSP Technology
Length: 4 Days INSTRUCTOR-LED The Web Component Development with Servlet and JSP Technology course provides delegates with the knowledge and skills needed to quickly build reference implementation-compliant Web-tier components from JavaServer Pages (JSP) and Java servlet extensions using the Tomcat server environment. Delegates are exposed to the current best practices for analysing, designing, developing, testing, and deploying Web applications with Java technologies. Real-world lab exercises provide delegates experience with constructing and deploying small- to medium-scale Web applications found in intranet and low-volume commercial sites. This course also provides an ideal method of preparing for the Sun Certified Web Component Developer certification examination. As such, delegates are not only taught the technical details of JSP and servlet technology, they also learn about the best practices for integrating the Web-tier with the other tiers, from the browser display to Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) components running on an application server and backend database resources.

What are the common unique panic string panics, and what information needs to be looked at to determine the cause? What caused a bad trap to occur? Is there corrupt data or is there a hardware problem? This course also presents information on analysing user-forced crashes and live crash dumps. The latter part of the course includes information about the SPARC architecture and assembly language and explains how this information can be used to gather additional information from crash dumps.
