1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this method statement is to define the general sequence of events, interfaces and
responsibilities relating to fixing Raceway.
2. SCOPE
This method statement is to define general requirements for incoming material, handling storage, laying,
fixing of conduit for the M/s DLF – Lotus Experience Centre at Mumbai.

4. DEFINITIONS

QUALITY CONTROL MEASURES
4.1 Confirm availability of the latest revision of layout drawings of client.
4.2 All materials shall be strictly conforming to construction drawings and approved technical
data sheets and shall be properly identified as per BOQ.
4.3 All measuring instruments shall have valid calibration certificates.
4.4 Work shall be carried out as per approved Shop drawings & Method statements
5. SAFETY
6.1 All electric equipment used in the works shall be properly earthed.

6.2 All regular PPE’s such as helmet, hand gloves, safety shoes, eye protection, hearing
protection, safety belts and any other special safety/protective equipment as necessary, shall
be used.
6.3 The working areas shall be barricaded to restrict the entry of unauthorized people.
6.4 Toolbox meeting shall be conducted prior to job commencement.
6.5 All personnel involved in height work shall always wear safety harness with double lanyard
when working at above 1.8 meters height.
6.6 Barricading & proper signage’s to be placed at working locations.
6.7 All workers doing work at height should be trained people who are experienced in working at
heights.
6.8 Mobile scaffolding casters wheel shall be locked with positive wheel or swivel locks or
equivalent means to prevent movement of the scaffold is used in a stationery manner.
6.9 Where leveling of the scaffold is necessary, screw jacks or equivalent means shall be used.
6.10 Scaffolds shall always be stabilized to prevent toppling during movement.
6.11 Scaffolds shall always have toe guard in place which work is carried out on it.
6.12 No one shall be standing on scaffolds while moving the scaffolds from one location to another.
6.13 Safety harness shall not be tied to scaffolds at any time during work.
6. UNLOADING & STACKING OF MATERIALS
7.1 Check whether the materials arrived as per the BOQ or as per the order placed.
7.2 Random check shall be carried out to check whether material is as per the approved technical
data sheet or not.
7.3 Perform the process of material inspection along with Client representative as per approved
checklist.
7.4 Decide the area to unload the materials and provide wooden runners as base materials to
store the materials. Material shall be kept in a dry place.
7.5 The storage area shall be cleaned & free from bushes, debris etc. for proper storage. Material
shall be covered.

9. WORK PROCEDURE
a) Preparatory Works:
a) Shifting of materials relevant to this job from store to work site manually/trolley/tower crane.
b) Availability of safety supervisor.
c) Approved MOS, JSA and GFC drawings.
d) Work Permit and inter disciplinary clearance protocol if any.
e) All materials and documents relevant to this section of work are checked prior to the
commencement of works ensuring that these are correct type.
f) Check the area where the work to commence is ready, accessible and suitable to start the work.
g) Check the tools to be used are ready in site in good condition.
h) Separate crushed or deformed raceways.
b) Procedure:
a) The size, gauge and depth of the raceways laid shall be as per the design approved drawing.
b) The interior surfaces must be free from burrs and sharp edges, and the surfaces over which the
conductors are drawn must be smooth.
c) Length of raceways shall be coupled together by means of joint sleeves made of pre-galvanized
GI.
d) The inside edges of raceway shall be smooth, and provision shall be made to prevent abrasion at
bends.

e) All vertical bends, crossover boxes, access outlet junction boxes shall be used for all connections
and changes of direction.
f) Raceways shall not be cut or bent to form bends, flanges or attachments.
g) Gusset bends shall be used wherever necessary to provide sufficient bending radius for the
cables.
h) The cut edges of the raceway shall be smoothed to prevent abrasion of the cables and shall be
painted with anti-corrosion paint like Zinc coating, to the same colour as the adjacent surfaces.
i) Rough screw edges and nuts are not allowed in the interior of the raceway.
j) The joining accessories of the same material shall be provided along raceways.
k) Junction boxes shall be used for connection of raceways and GI pipes
l) All junction boxes must be mechanically and electrically continuous to the headers.
m) No splices are allowed in the raceways.
n) The location and route for the raceway shall be according to the design approved drawing.
o) Standard bends shall be used for raceways.
p) All opening shall be closed properly in raceways to make it anti-rodent.
q) Care shall be taken to earth the raceways as per the design.
Chart mentioning no of wires that can be drawn in raceway as guidelines is mentioned in below table,
same shall be followed strictly at site.

c). CHECKING AND TESTING:
a) Client’s inspection will be carried out for witness of installed raceways as per approved
GFC drawings & approved check lists.
b) Checking of raceways and accessories from any damage, alignments and tightness of all
couplings.

10. PERSONNEL/RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities of personnel are as follows:
Site Manager: Responsible for the planning and implementation of the activity including the
coordination and assignment of field personnel involved in the operation.
Safety supervisor: Responsible for the safety procedure based on safety management
system.
Field Engineer: Responsible in overseeing project activities based on limits indicated on
plans and drawings and in compliance to both Quality and Safety Management Systems.
QA/QC Engineer: Engineer shall co-ordinate with Client for appropriate inspection and
documentation. Carry out internal inspection at site to check if all quality measures are
being carried out or not.
