A new celebrity magazine

14 year old Sally talks about a new magazine she is interested in

These days, when you walk into a shop or newsagents and look at the magazines and
newspapers on sale, you’ll find a wide range of celebrity magazines on the shelves.
These tell us everything about famous people that we want to know - and often lots of
things we don’t want to know. The information they give is rarely reliable. But there’s a
new celebrity magazine which has caught my attention, called Their Lives.
It’s rare that I actually read a celebrity magazine from cover to cover, I often don’t
even know who the ‘celebrities’ are. Maybe they’ve been in a new TV show or are a
new star of a football team, but in my opinion that doesn’t mean that everybody wants
to know what they eat and where they live. So it was a nice surprise when I picked up
a copy of Their Lives and it actually kept my attention to the last page. It’s roughly the
same cost and number of pages as other celebrity magazines, but the main difference
is that there are fewer pictures and instead has more reviews and interviews.
It wasn’t until I opened it and started reading that I realised how different it was,
because the cover didn’t make it clear. But once I did start reading it, there were some
fascinating things to read. For example, I read an interview with a famous actor who
discussed his experience with mental health issues. He talked very openly about how
depressed he has been in the past. I think it’s so important to have famous people talk
about this, especially because so many young people today have some struggles with
their mental health. Hopefully, by seeing someone famous talk about it and how they’ve
overcome it, it will inspire other young people to do the same. That’s very heartening to
me and gives me hope for the future.
I certainly know I’ll be buying the next copy when it comes out. Those of you who buy
it won’t be disappointed, but the big question is will it succeed against all those other
celebrity magazines already out in the shops? We can only wait and see.
