suffocation the laboratory coordinator, the
faculty-in-charge or the subject teacher shall be
immediately notified.

complications caused by the laboratory substances shall
be given an immediate medical assistance. On the other
those who are suspected to be over exposed to hazardous
substances shall be observed and monitored.

extinguishers, Fire alarms, Eye wash stations, first-aid kits,
Chemical response spill kits, shall be placed inside the
laboratory premised for easy access during emergencies.

systems.

1. Subject teachers should be well trained and
knowledgeable enough in performing
laboratory activities in order to secure the
safety of the students as they work inside the
Laboratory.

2. An orientation program regarding the
guidelines, rules and regulations involving
the use of laboratory shall be done at the
beginning of the school year.

3. Science teachers and other teachers who
will use the laboratory for instructional
purposes shall orient the students properly
before they enter the laboratory.

4. Reference materials and Guidelines for
safety shall be posted in the laboratory a copy
of the laboratory guidelines and material safety
manuals shall also be available inside the
laboratory.

1. Students should properly handle the equipment
used in performing different laboratory activities. In
case that a material if found broken/defective it should
be reported to the laboratory director for evaluation
and for proper disposal.

2. Quarterly assessment and inspection of
laboratory materials shall be done by the
laboratory coordinator. Defective materials shall
be immediately disposed and replaced.

3. For chemical wastes, these shall be stored inside a
leak proof container, and must be placed on the
designated disposal areas. For containers, broken
laboratory equipment and hazardous solid wastes, it shall
be placed in a sealed container before being disposed on
the designated disposal area. Students and teachers shall
ensure that the wastes are properly segregated upon
disposal.

4. Non-hazardous liquid wastes, the wastes shall
strictly be disposed through the laboratory sink to
avoid pollution caused by laboratory wastes
within the school premises.

5. Laboratory equipment which has been used
during experiments shall be cleaned and
sterilized immediately after use. The laboratory
equipment shall also be returned to its designated
storage area after completing the cleaning and
sterilizing process.

proposal/requisition form to the
School Administrator noted by the

laboratory in charge will have the
purchased material/equipment
recorded by the maintenance in
charge for inventory.

storage room if not yet being

1. Subject teachers shall notify the laboratory


coordinator regarding the schedule when the
laboratory will be used. The subject teachers
shall also indicate the materials, chemicals and
equipment needed for the conduct of the activity.
2. For activities which will be conducted outside
class hours. The students who will be conducting
the activity shall seek the permission of their
subject teacher and the laboratory coordinator.
The students will be given a schedule depending
on the availability of the subject teacher or the
laboratory coordinator to monitor them.

3. Conduct of activities with high risk of hazards
and would require a larger work area should be
conducted with the help of the partner institution
(Batangas State University – BSU) as stated in
BSU and SSSVL’s Memorandum of Agreement.
The subject teacher shall send a request letter to
the partner institution indicating the purpose and
the time that the activity will be conducted. Upon
approval, the teacher shall also secure that all
students will be given a proper parental consent.

4. After working inside the laboratory,
the students shall secure that all
wastes have been properly disposed,
the equipment are returned to the
proper storage location, and the proper
personal sanitation practices has been
done before leaving the laboratory
premises.
