METHOD STATEMENT OF REMOVING ICE FORMATION INSIDE
SPRINKLER SYSTEM PIPES
1. Ensure Uniform Installation of Heating Coil:
o Install the heating coil evenly along the piping to effectively melt ice
formations.
2. Open Drain Valve Associated with Alarm Valve:
o Identify and open the drain valve connected to the alarm valve of the
sprinkler system.
3. Activate Heating System:
o Switch on the heating system connected to the thermocouple to initiate
the melting process.
4. Allow Time for Temperature Increase:
o Allow sufficient time for the heating system to raise the pipe
temperature above freezing point.
5. Drain De-Freeze Water:
o Allow the melted ice (de-freeze water) to drain completely through the
open drain valve.
6. Verify Complete Drainage:
o Ensure all water resulting from melted ice is thoroughly drained from
the system to prevent refreezing.

7. Inspect Sprinkler Heads and Components:
o Conduct a visual inspection of sprinkler heads and other components
to check for any damage caused by ice formation.
8. Replace Damaged Sprinklers or Components:
o Replace any identified damaged sprinklers or components to maintain
system functionality.
9. Perform Pneumatic Test:
o Conduct a pneumatic (pressure) test to confirm the integrity of the
system after ice removal and repairs.
10. Reset System to Normal Operation:
o Once the system passes the pneumatic test and all repairs are complete,
reset the system to its normal operating mode.
SUPPORTS REQUIRED FROM CLIENT
To successfully execute the task of removing ice formation inside sprinkler system
pipes, the following supports from the client are crucial:
1. Apron for Workman
o Provide suitable aprons or protective clothing for the workmen
involved in the operation. This helps in ensuring their safety and
