1. SCOPE AND DEFINITIONS
1.1. This Standard covers the minimum requirements of Al Furat Petroleum Company for the design and
construction of lubricating and control oil systems for use with rotating machinery in onshore oil and
gas operations.
1.2. The RFQ shall take precedence over the requirements of this Standard. Conflicts with this document
and the RFQ and / or other Referenced documents shall be brought to the attention of the COMPANY
for resolution.
1.3. Within this Standard the following definitions shall apply:

CONTRACTOR: The Contractor, Vendor or Manufacturer selected by COMPANY to perform the
work or provide equipment and services as described in this Standard.
RFQ: COMPANY’s Request for Quotation.
2. GENERAL
2.1. The lubricating and control oil systems covered by this Standard will be operated onshore, in a remote
desert area. It will normally be operated and maintained by production personnel with only periodic
maintenance by trained mechanics.
2.2. Of primary concern to COMPANY are safety, operability, reliability and maintainability of its
facilities. As CONTRACTOR shall be ultimately responsible for the safe operation of the equipment
supplied by him, he shall include the following activities in his Scope of Supply:
Review all safety features and systems, which COMPANY has specified, and propose, in writing,
any revisions and additions, which he deems necessary for optimum safety.
Review operation and integrity of the control and shutdown system and advise his
concurrence.
Carefully review equipment location to permit easy access for maintenance and
operation.
Propose any alternatives, which will, in his opinion, result in improved operability,
reliability or maintainability.
2.3. All items of equipment and materials shall comply with the latest edition of the listed Specifications,
Codes and Standards and with those referenced therein, and with the requirements of this Standard, the
data sheets and the RFQ Document. CONTRACTOR shall advise COMPANY in writing of any
exceptions to or deviations from the Specifications, Codes and Standards and submit specific details
with his bid.
2.4. In the absence of a COMPANY Standard or a relevant international code the design shall be in
accordance with CONTRACTOR's specification or standard, which shall adhere to accepted design
methods and good engineering practice, and shall be supplied to COMPANY for review.
2.5. In the event of a conflict arising between the requirements of this Standard, the Data Sheets or any of
the applicable codes, such discrepancy shall be brought to the attention of COMPANY in writing.
2.6. All components, including gaskets, shall be asbestos free.

3.0 REFERENCE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS
In addition to the requirements contained herein, the requirements of the following Standard
Specifications for COMPANY shall apply as appropriate.
Centrifugal Compressors
Process equipment for Packaged Process Compressors
Piping design. fabrication & assembly
Heat Insulation
Electrical equipment, electric motors and electrical systems.
Instruments and control systems
Engineering Documentation
3. SPECIFIC DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
Lubricating and Control Oil Systems as covered by this Standard shall comply with API Standard 614,
latest edition, except as amended in the following (paragraph numbers refer to the relevant paragraphs
of the 3rd Edition).
2.1.5 The CONTRACTOR has overall responsibility for satisfactory design and performance of
the system. CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for completion of the API data sheet and
advising the lube oil system manufacturer on all relevant design requirements as dictated by
COMPANY's application.
2.1.6 Sound pressure limits, under any operating condition, at a distance of 1 m. from the
equipment surface, shall not exceed 90 dB(A).
2.1.7 The L.O system shall be fully integrated with the main equipment base plate, except for the
cooler, which may be off-skid mounted.
2.1.8 Separate systems for two or more machines shall be supplied, unless otherwise specified in
the RFQ.
2.1.11 See amended clause 2.1.5
2.1.12 The system shall be suitable for installation outdoors, under a roof, in a desert environment
where heavy dust and rainstorms are encountered. Ambient temperatures range from -10 C
in winter to +51 C in summer. Black bulb temperatures may reach +82 C.
2.1.4 The equipment shall be suitable, and its components shall be certified, for operation in a
Class 1, Division 2 (Zone 2) area. However, CONTRACTOR shall verify that the area
classification requirements of API RP 500 are met. See also amended clause 2.1.5.
Electrical components and installation shall be in accordance with COMPANY's Electrical
Standards.
2.1.17 Double blocks and bleeds are not required.

2.1.15 Code stamping is not required.
2.1.20 Unless otherwise specified in the RFQ, dry gas seals shall be installed in centrifugal
compressors.
A continuously rated 3-phase 50 Hz motor driven pre-post lube oil pump shall be provided
for all applications. DC electric motor driven pumps shall not be used for pre-lubrication
On loss of AC electrical power the following shall apply:
For a combustion gas turbine driver, an emergency DC motor driven post lube oil pump
shall also be provided. In addition, CONTRACTOR may propose an overhead run-
down tank or an accumulator as an alternative.
For other applications (e.g. compressors), CONTRACTOR shall advise the requirement.
If emergency post lube oil is necessary, a run-down tank is preferred whenever feasible.
2.2.1 See amended clause 2.1.7
2.2.5 Non grouted base plates are preferred.
2.2.6 See amended Clause 2.2.5
2.3.7.1 Heating elements shall be thermostatically controlled electric immersion heaters.
2.3.8 Insulation clips shall be provided.
2.3.10 Connection only shall be provided.
2.3.12 This clause shall apply for off-base console mounted reservoirs.
2.4.1 See comment to Clauses 2.1.5 and 2.1.20
The main lube oil pump may be either 3 phase 50 Hz, continuously rated AC motor driven
or shaft driven from the prime mover or the prime mover auxiliary gearbox. The stand by
pump shall be 3 phase 50 Hz, continuously rated, AC motor driven.
2.4.2 A DC-electric motor driven emergency lube oil pump shall be provided complete with
batteries and charger of sufficient capacity to meet black start, shut down, post shut down
lube and cooling requirements. The DC lube oil shall be continuously rated and included
necessary margins for the AC pump(s)
2.4.4 All centrifugal pump shall also comply with AFPC schedule W-4. Coupling for horizontal
pump shall be of the flexible disc type. For API
2.4.5 Electric motors shall comply with COMPANY’s Electrical Standards.
Air or gas driven pumps shall not be used.
2.4.6 This Clause does not apply.
2.4.20 Coupling for horizontal pump shall be of the flexible disc type. Non sparking guard shall be
supplied.

2.5.1 Twin coolers are not required
2.5.3 The cooler shall be air cooled, forced draft fan driven type and comply with API Standard
661 as amended by COMPANY's Technical Standard for Air Cooled Gas heat Exchangers
Sch I-2.
The cooler shall be designed for 110% of the maximum design duty.
A minimum of two electric motor-driven fans shall be provided. Fans and motors shall be
rated for at least 1.2 times the calculated airflow over the air-side of the tube bundle.
The preferred means of temperature control is a temperature controlled bypass valve over
the cooler; CONTRACTOR may propose alternative methods for COMPANY's
consideration.
Tube material shall be 316 type stainless steel.
2.6.1 Add: elements shall be replaceable during operation.
2.6.4 Filtration requirement for control oil: see comment to Clause 2.1.5.
2.7.1 Filter transfer valves shall be provided.
2.7.4 Spectacle blinds are not required.
2.8.3.4 See amended Clause 2.1.5.
2.13.1 CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for all interconnecting piping between packages and
supplies to the packages.
The seal system should be run in ‘Swagelock’ type stainless steel tubing and fittings in
accordance with COMPANY Instrument Standards.
All branch connections for vents drains and instruments, above ANSI class 600 rating shall
have double isolation valves. (See also amended clause 2.13.9.8).
2.13.9.4 Threaded connections in piping are not permitted.
2.13.9.8 ‘Slimline’ instrument isolation valves with integral vent and test lines shall be provided
accordance with COMPANY Instrument Standard.
2.13.9.10 Instrument test valves shall be provided in accordance with COMPANY Instrument
Standards.
2.13.10.3 Stainless steel weld neck flanges and fittings shall be used downstream of lube oil filters
and on all seal gas system supplies. Valve trim shall be stainless steel. All piping shall be
butt-welded.
2.13.11.4 See amended clause 2.13.10.3.
3.1.2 Instrumentation and installation shall be in accordance with COMPANY's Instrument
Standards.
3.2.1 The local gauge panel should be mounted on the main equipment base plate. Due care shall
be given to isolation of equipment vibration. In case of a separate console type lube oil unit,
the local panel should be mounted on the console.

3.2.2 The local gauge board shall include the instrumentation additionally specified in amended
Clause 3.2.3.
3.2.3 The following panel mounted local instruments shall be provided additional to the vendor’s
standard:
14. Lube oil pump discharge pressure
15. Lube oil supply header pressure
16. Lube oil cooler inlet temperature
17. Lube oil cooler outlet temperature
18. Lube oil filter differential pressure
19. Lube oil Reservoir level.
All signals shall be repeated to COMPANY's unit control panel in the Control Room.
3.3.5 A first out sequence annunciator shall be included as a feature of the main equipment unit
control panel.
3.5.1 Refer to RFQ for main power supplies and characteristics.
4.1.4 The main equipment supplier shall witness and approve all functional and cleanliness tests.
CONTRACTOR inspectors shall be responsible for ensuring compliance with the RFQ.
COMPANY Inspector participation in tests and inspections will be agreed during the first
CONTRACTOR/COMPANY co-ordination meeting. COMPANY, CONTRACTOR and
Third Party Inspections shall be identified in CONTRACTOR's Test and Inspection Plan.
4.3.1.4 The CONTRACT lube oil system shall be used during shop string testing of the equipment
served.
5.1 h) CONTRACTOR shall complete COMPANY's SPIR forms as specified in the RFQ.
Storage requirements shall be in accordance with the RFQ.
5.2.2.2 The scope of supply shall be in accordance with the RFQ including this Standard unless
variations are otherwise agreed with the COMPANY. CONTRACTOR shall list his
exceptions to Standards in accordance with the RFQ.
5.2.3.1 CONTRACTOR shall issue a Document Submission List and schedule for COMPANY
approval. The Document Submission List shall include installation, commissioning and
operating instructions and As Built Data Books. All documents to be issued ‘As Built’ shall
be clearly defined.
All documents are to be of a format and include information as defined in the COMPANY
Engineering Documentation Standard. CONTRACTOR shall compile the As-Built data and
documentation on a package basis for inclusion into the main equipment Manufacturer’s
Data Books.
5.2.4.1 Contractor will provide standard data sheets, including API-614 data sheets, for the
complete lube oil system equipments, for Company review and approval.. All data sheets
shall be included in the Document Submission List.
5.2.4.2 e) Certified copies of test data shall be included in CONTRACTOR's Data Book.
5.2.3.6 CONTRACTOR shall submit a consolidated monthly progress report, covering all items
within his scope of supply, to COMPANY.
