or the name of the volume. Now, the words following Create Plan are correctly translated.

Overlapping Expressions in External Beam Planning

Reference: VA00154268
ShortSummary print template has been modified so that the issue where the expression Primary
Reference Point can overlap with reference point dose value, and the expression Planned Total
Dose can overlap with the expression Volume ID is resolved in the Brazilian Portuguese,
Swedish, Spanish and Chinese versions.

Truncation in Partial Treatment Plan in Eclipse

Reference: VA00154247
In the wizard for creating a partial treatment plan for a merged field-in-field plan, the French text
that showed some truncation has been resolved.

Untranslated Proton Terms in RT Administration
Reference: VA00139665
In the German version in RT Administration, multiple proton-specific terms are now correctly
translated, such as “Snout”, “Beam Spot Tune”, Range Modulator”, or “Range Shifter”.

Erroneous Translation of “Error out” in Prescribe Treatment

Reference: VA00150290

the status of the prescription is “Error out”), is now correctly translated again.

Incorrect Translation of Buttons in RT Administration

Reference: VA00139883
In the Japanese version of RT Administration, the translation of the Yes to All and No to All
buttons when trying to delete or purge a patient is correct again. In addition, the text in the purge/
delete window “Do you really want to purge/delete patient “Last Name”, “First Name” (ID)” is now
correctly translated again.

Changes from the Previous Release 11

Known Issues

Known Issues for Localized ARIA RTM Clients 16.1 MR3

Truncations in Proton Optimizer
Reference: No DR/PF/Issue
In the new Proton Optimizer user interface, various truncation issues can be seen. If the mouse is
moved over a truncated field or button, in most cases a longer non-truncated explanation of the
meaning of the field or button will be shown.

Machine Operating Limits, Color and Style Not Translated in RT Administration

The machine operating limits and the color and style selections have not been translated. The
settings for the machine operating limits, colors and styles can be customized in RT
Administration. This customization can also include the translation of each item.

Editing Log Workspace not Translated

The Editing Log workspace has not been translated.

Inconsistent Translations in User Administration

Reference: No DR/PF/Issue
In User Administration, the terms and access rights have not been consistently translated. For
instance, user interface items, such as Human Resources, Group ID, Staff, and All action rights
are shown in English only.

Updated French Online Help Not Available

The online help system has not been translated into French in release 16.1. Instead, the French
online help system for 16.0 is used. For the remaining languages (German, Chinese, Japanese,
Spanish, Italian, Swedish and Brazilian Portuguese), the English version of the 16.1 online help is
used.

Untranslated Algorithm Names and Settings in Beam Configuration

Reference: No DR/PF/Issue
The calculation algorithm names and settings in Beam Configuration are not translated.

Source Calibration Date in RT Administration

In RT Administration, the source calibration date should be entered carefully if the local date
formats are used. The text input is allowed to be given with different formats, but the date is
converted according to the operating system’s short date format. For instance, if the short date
format is defined as MM/dd/YYYY (05/07/2007 for 7th of May, 2007), and the calibration date is
entered in the format 05.07.2007 (for 5th of July, 2007), this value is automatically converted to
05/07/2007 (May 7th, 2007).

12 Localized ARIA Radiation Therapy Management Clients Customer Release Note

Non-Localized Areas in Eclipse
The following areas in Eclipse have not been localized:
● Not all log files are translated, including the Calculation log files.
Reference: No DR/PF/Issue
● The DICOM log and some of the DICOM error messages.
Reference: VA00101635
● Machine configuration files.
Reference: No DR/PF/Issue
● International number formats are not supported, and international date formats are supported
only partially.
● Boolean operators (such as AND and OR) are not translated.

Non-Localized Error Message in Unexpected Application Termination

Reference: VA00059978
When the application terminates unexpectedly the error message shown is not translated. The
message says: “Application has terminated unexpectedly. Details about the error have been
written to log files. Please contact the system administrator. The following log files have been
created:”

Untranslated Label Values in Eclipse

Reference: VA00069275
When previewing a Clinical Protocol template, Plan Template, Structure Template or Object
Template, the labels are translated, but most of the values are still in English.

Overlapping Text in External Beam Planning Printouts

Reference: VA00070936, DR closed for 17.0 but keep info
When printing 2D or 3D views for proton plans in portrait orientation, with certain values which are
longer than normal (including technique, machine name and others), there may occur overlapping
text that obscures important information. It is possible to avoid this by configuring the printer via
File > Print Setup to use Landscape orientation.

Overlapping IDs and Strings in Printouts

Reference: No DR/PF/Issue
In the case of too long IDs and other strings, overlaps between two neighboring entries might
occur in the printouts.

DICOM Interface Log Not Translated

Reference: VA00101635
The error and warning log in the DICOM interface is not translated.

DICOM Import/Export: Translation might have more than 64 characters

Reference: VA00161794

Known Issues 13
DICOM allows 64 characters for a value representation (VR) of type long string. Due to
translation, the 64 characters can exceed, for example structure set volume code 82.8 Brain &
central nervous system, overlapping lesion is translated in German to Gehirn und andere Teile
des Zentralnervensystems, mehrere Teilbereicke überlappend. In this case, export/import can fail
or text is truncated.

Untranslated Statistics Plots and Training Log for DVH Estimation Models
Reference: No DR/PF/Issue
The statistics plots and training log are always shown in the language in which the DVH
Estimation Model has been trained. If you open a DVH Estimation Model in a workstation using
some other language, the statistics plots and training log are still shown in the language of the
training.

Untranslated Structures in DVH Estimation Models

Reference: No DR/PF/Issue
It is possible to add to a DVH Estimation Model such structures that always use the language in
which they have been created. This may lead to a situation where a DVH Estimation Model
contains structures using a number of languages.

Translated Structure Dictionaries do not Match for DVH Estimation Models

Reference: VA00117453
The translated Structure Dictionary Label ID in the software and the Varian provided DVH
Estimation Model Structure Dictionary Label ID may not match for some languages. Refer to the
user-defined translated ID and Code for the correct translation when applying a Varian Provided
DVH Estimation Model.

Untranslated Warning in Eclipse for Unshielded Interleaf Gaps

Reference: No DR/PF/Issue
When merging fields with unshielded interleaf gaps in External Beam Planning workspace, the
following warning will be shown which is not translated: “Merge cannot be completed because the
following fields have unshielded interleaf gaps. To eliminate unshielded interleaf gaps, try for
example adjusting the collimator angle or splitting the field into multiple fields.”

Missing Labels for Inactive Structure Codes in External Beam Planning

Reference: VA00117366, closed in 17.0 but keep info
The following inactive structure codes in the Structure Dictionary do not have labels. Define your
own labels if a structure should be added to active dictionary and refer to the following codes and
English labels:
● 233286 Superior lingular bronchus lymph node group

● 233354 Set of right posterior basal segmental bronchus lymph nodes
● 233356 Set of left posterior basal segmental bronchus lymph nodes
● 234941 Segment of subcortical telencephalon

Truncations in Prescription View

Reference: No DR/PF/Issue
Various languages: in the Prescription View, the “History” button can be truncated.

Line Breaks Missing in Help Text for DQP in Eclipse

Reference: VA00153798
The help text for Dosimetric Quality Parameters (DQP) in the clinical protocols has no line breaks
in the translated versions. The help text should be:

"D95" for target (D<n>, where <n> is real number [%]. The value must
be >= 0.0 and <= 100.0)
"D2cc" for rectum (D<n>cc, where <n> is real number [cc]. The value
must be >= 0.0 and <= 10000.0)
"V100" for target (V<n> where <n> is real number[%]. The value must
be >= 0.0 and <= 1000.0)
"V2.5Gy" for bladder (V<n>Gy where <n> is real number [Gy]. The value
must be >= 0.0 and <= 1000.0

Expert Library has duplicate translated elements

Reference: VA00137007, closed in 17.0 but keep info
Expert Library can contain duplicates of translated elements which causes an error in Smart
Segmentation.

User can edit approved templates

Reference: VA00164058
Approved templates can be edited on a localized client in both External Beam Planning and
Brachytherapy planning.

Issues in About Box

Reference: VA00167015

Known Issues 15
In section More information of the About Box, the following entries are not translated:
● More Information
● Platform Server
● Platform Server Version
● Database Server
● Database Name
● License Server
● License Server Port
● Web Service Version
Additionally, buttons are not resized, causing a truncation.

Known Issues Specifically Related to French

Erroneous Translation in Acuros BV Calculation Options
Reference: VA00154355
In the French version of the Acuros BV calculation options, the expression “Effacer dose dans
applicateur(s) plein(s)” is erroneously translated. The correct translation is “Effacer la dose dans
le ou les applicateurs”.

Erroneous Translation of Plan Scheduling Error Message

Reference: IssueV2 1495157
The English message states: “For at least one session the schedule could not be modified due to
the following reason(s): only one modality at a time is possible.”
The incorrect French translation states: « La programmation n'a pas pu être modifiée pour une
moins une des sessions pour la ou les raisons suivantes possibilité d'une seule modalité à la
fois. »
The correct French translation should state: « La programmation n'a pas pu être modifiée pour au
moins une des sessions pour la ou les raisons suivantes. »

Known Issues Specifically Related to German

Overlaps in Eclipse and BrachyVision Printouts
Reference: VA00132442
Some entries in the German printouts created from Eclipse or BrachyVision will overlap with other
text.

Erroneous Translation of Treatment Machine Status in RT Administration

Reference: VA00157184
In the German version in RT Administration, the treatment machine status “On Service” is
incorrectly translated as “In Betrieb”. The correct translation would be “In Wartung”.

16 Localized ARIA Radiation Therapy Management Clients Customer Release Note

Translation Inconsistency in Prescribe Treatment
Reference: VA00169085
When switching from “Prescribe Treatment” workspace to “Treatment Preparation” workspace,
there is a translation inconsistency for “Prescribe Treatment”. While in “Prescribe Treatment”, this
workspace is correctly translated as “Behandlungsvorbereitung”; as soon as navigating to
“Treatment Preparation”, translation is lost and workspace is shown in English (Prescribe
Treatment).

AURA “GermanDIN-Strahlzeitübersicht” Report is Not Showing Correct MU Total

Reference: IssueV2 124251
If you create a custom report and want to add the Gy measure on the report for the same
parameter of MU, the report called “GermanDIN-Strahlzeitübersicht” does not show the correct
total MU.

AURA “German DIN Bestrahlungsliste” Report Won’t Open in Live Mode

Reference: Issue V2 1409682
The AURA “German DIN Bestrahlungsliste” report takes too long time in Live mode and throw
“operation has timed out” exception.
Recommendation: Do not to use Live mode for this report.

Known Issues Specifically Related to Chinese

Incorrect handling of decimal numbers in numeric boxes in several RTM Workspaces and
Eclipse dialogs with Windows 10
Reference: VA00173976
When the OS is Windows 10 and the input language is set to Simplified Chinese (Pinyin),
numeric boxes in Prescribe Treatment, RT Summary, Treatment Preparation, Plan Scheduling,
Eclipse Photon Optimization, Proton Optimization and DVH Estimation are affected by the
following issues:
● If a numeric box has a set number of decimals and a whole number is entered, the decimal
places should be added as a 0. For example, if the user enters the number 1, the numeric
box should show as 1.00.
This is the correct behavior in English, but with Simplified Chinese as input language, the
numeric box will show 1 instead.
● Sometimes decimal points are entered in incorrect places. For example, if the user enters the
number 250, the numeric box sometimes will show it as 2.50.
● Sometimes box value will simply fail to update. For example, if the current value of the
numeric box is 2.50, and the user enters 3.50 as the new value, when focus is changed to
another UI element the value in the numeric box will reset to 2.50.
Suggestion
● Varian recommends using the following language settings:
● Input Language: English.

Known Issues 17
● Display Language: Simplified Chinese.

Untranslated Text in Brachytherapy Objective Template

Reference: VA00131116
In the Objective Template in Brachytherapy Planning, the English text “Clear Dose in
Applicator(s)” is not translated into Chinese.

Reference: VA00163305, DR closed in 17.0 but keep info
Fonts may not display correctly unless the “Language for non-Unicode programs” setting under
Region in Windows Control panel on the client machine is set to the correct language.

Known Issues Specifically Related to Japanese

Erroneous Message about Dose Calculation in External Beam Planning
Reference: VA00154355
The error message that is shown when attempting to calculate the dose without a calculation
model selected, confuses the type of the calculation with the type of the particle.

Photon Optimization dialog: Message not translated
