Aws Commissioning: Settings for the Siemens control board

McQuay has started the production of the new AWS with a different
controller interface and different logic, we provide this document
in order to help the technician during the commissioning activity.
Of course this document will be not a substitution of a training
course, and control manual, but only a sort of parameter list for
the start-up of the AWS. In any case the technicians will be
authorized to start-up the AWS only after having attended our
training courses or after having attended a commissioning
performed by McQuay Service Department members. For those
technicians that are parts of Daikin affiliates it will be
necessary to follow the Daikin Europe Rules in matter of first
commissioning.

List of parts:

- Secure digital (SD) card (*).

- Pin of 2 mm diameter.
- Technical specification for fans inverter settings (if
required).
(*) The following SD-Card are supported:

- SD Cards are supported (not SDHC!)

- Fast speed SD Cards are supported (class 2)
- Supported File system: FAT16 and FAT32
- Cards up to 2GByte are supported. Cards over 2GByte are not
recommended.
- SDHC cards are not supported.

Installation of the latest software version (if required by McQuay
Service Department).

1) Upload file with the software, provided by the factory, in the

SD card.
2) Turn off power to the panel.
3) Insert the SD card in the board (see pictures).

4) Insert the pin and gently push the internal reset button.

5) Keep the button pushed and give power to the electrical panel.

6) Remove the pin only when the led starts blinking red/green and
wait until the upload of the board stops automatically (*).

(*)If on the unit it is installed any communication board (Modbus,

lon, etc.), it is very important to wait an automatic uploading of
the communication board too. It will start automatically once the
main board will be fully upgraded. If the modbus board is not
necessary, it will be not necessary to wait.
7)We strongly suggest to repeat the upload procedure twice in
order to guarantee a complete uploading.

Software settings for the AWS

1) Start from the “main menu” of the control board.

2) Insert the Service Password.
3) Go to “Commissioning unit” → “About chiller”
4) Go to “Model name” and insert AWS model name(ex. AWS212.2sest)
5) Go to “Unit s/n” and insert the unit serial number (e.g. ov09-
00001).
6) Go back to “Commissioning unit” → ”Configure unit”
7) Go to “Number of ckts” and set the circuit number.
8) Go to “Mfg place” and set “Europe”.
9) Go to “Slide position sensor” and set “NO”.
10) Go to “Apply changes” and set “YES”.
11) Wait until the board automatically reloads.
12) Start again from the “main menu” of the control board.
13) Insert again the Service Password.
14) Go to “Commissioning unit” → “Configure circuits”
15) Go to “Number of fans” and set the correct number of fans
for each circuit.
16) Go to “Apply changes” and set “YES”.

17) Wait until the board automatically reloads.
18) Start again from the “main menu” of the control board.
19) Insert again the Service Password.
20) Go to “Commissioning unit” → “Set up”
21) Go to “Display unit” and set “Metric”.
22) Go to “Date/Time/Schedules” and update it.
23) In the menu “Commissioning unit” there are also the menus
“Calibrate unit sensors” and “Calibrate circuit sensors”, use
these menus to calibrate all the sensors.
24) Starting from the “Main menu” → “view/set circuits”
25) Go to “circuit 1/2” → “Comp 1/2”
26) Go to “size” and insert the NAME of each compressor based
on the below table (read the model on the compressor plate).

27) Go to “Circuit 1/2” → “Condenser”.

28) Go to “Fan VFD Enable” and Enable or Disable depending on
whether the fan “Speedtrol” or “VFD control” are present on
the unit.
29) Use the attached Technical specification to check the
inverter settings directly on the KEB display.
30) Go to “Main menu” → “view/set unit”
31) Go to “Temperatures” → “Cool LWT 1” and set the required
setpoint.
32) Go to “Set-up” → “MAX Pulldn” and the the required Max
pull down rate value.
It is strongly recommended about 0,8 °C/min.

(If other options are installed on the unit please refer to the
“Operating Manual”.)
