Outline for Problem-Solution Essay

Introduction

1-2)Hook: The number of job losses due to AI is significant. It expects jobs lost to

generative AI to climb from 9.3 percent to 30.4 percent by 2030 and that's 90,000 job

losses in 2023, growing to 2.4 million by 2030

2-4)Background Information : There are many factors to contribute to AI and

automation has been replacing some human jobs and causing more unemployment and

inequality. Not only humans will suffer mass unemployment but the economy will also

be imbalanced soon.

5)Thesis : In order to solve these problems, there are a few practical solutions including

taxing AI jobs and slowing down the speed of business workforce replacement.

Body Paragraph #1: Problem

1)Topic sentence: One of the major problems resulting from AI/ automation is many

people will lose their jobs due to AI replacement

2)Reason why: . For example, businesses can recruit fewer workers because artificial

intelligence and robots can do traditional human tasks.

3-4)Evidence: A report put out in February 2016 by Citibank in partnership with the

University of Oxford predicted that 47% of US jobs are at risk of automation. In the UK,
35% are. In China, it's a whopping 77% — while across the OECD it's an average of

57%. Furthermore, three of the world's 10 largest employers are now replacing their

workers with robots. (Price, 2016, par. 6).

5)Topic Sentence: In the second place, increased automation and AI will lead to

unemployment and inequality

6)Reason + 7-8)Evidence: The increased use of automation and AI is likely to worsen

economic inequality because the employees who are lower-wage and low-skilled will be

replaced. Most of the jobs at risk are low-skilled service jobs like call centres or in

manufacturing industries (Williams-Grut, 2020, par. 5).

9)Provide your claim: In general, people are at risk of being stolen jobs by AI/

automation if humans do not find any methods to adapt.

Body Paragraph #2

1)Topic sentence: Addressing these problems will require the Government to tax AI

jobs

2)Reason why: The Government can invest money from AI tax to transform the careers

for humans who Robot replaced. While AI replaces many human jobs, it also has some

jobs that AI can not replace. The Government can use these funds to make some

vocational classes for these careers.

3-4)Evidence: For example, Bill Gates said there were some jobs requiring sympathy

from people such as teachers, nurses, caring for the elderly or childcare. And the tax from

AI jobs would be a great fund for training (as cited in Pringe, 2017, para. 10)

5)Topic Sentence: Moreover, a tax could slow down factories and business workforce
replacement because creating robots requires plenty of money.

6)Reason why + 7-8)Evidence : Bill Gates also said that slowing down using Robots

sometimes can be a good idea. Because it can help to prevent us from some kind of social

crisis (as cited in Pringe, 2017, para 10).

9)Provide your claim: Therefore, taxing AI jobs and slowing down the business

adaption to AI can be a great proposal to solve AI problems on work.

Conclusion (3 sentences)

In conclusion, Taxing AI jobs is one of the solutions to restrict the impacts of workforce

replacement. By using this resolution, we can have funds to invest in training for some

occupations that lack human resources and have more time to prepare for new

technological innovations. And many experts such as Bill Gates, Pringe also agree with

these above solutions.
