4. – GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

4.1 .- The design, execution, and repair of provisional electrical installations must be carried out by
qualified personnel who have authorization from the competent authority.

4.2 To request a splice, the installed power of the work and the possible extensions to the installation that
could be carried out during the course of construction must be considered.

4.3 The installations must not be electrically overloaded. If a greater capacity is required in the
installation, an extension of the connection capacity must be requested from the electrical company.

4.4 Splices must be carried out only by specialized personnel from the electrical company; anyone outside
the company is not allowed to intervene.

5. – ELECTRICAL BOARDS

5.1 - Every temporary installation must have a general board, which must be visible in a visible, easily
accessible place.

5.2 – There must be mobile metal panels, which must have the different circuits they supply with their
respective protection systems clearly identified.

5.3 - Electrical panels installed on poles or walls must have a height of 1.20 M, from the bottom of the
panel to the floor.

5.4 - The mobile panels can be installed on a resistant and independent structure that does not allow
overturning at a height of no less than 1 M from the bottom of the panel to the floor. (Electrical panels are
not allowed on the floor).

5.5 - Electrical panels must have a lock or padlock system on their doors to prevent unauthorized people
from intervening.

5.6 – The boards must be numbered and marked with a danger sticker.

6. – PROTECTION SYSTEMS

6.1 All circuits must be protected by differential protectors.

6.2 When repair work is carried out on a circuit, the electricity supply to it must be interrupted and a
maintenance warning sign must be posted.

7. – CONDUCTORS (Cables)

7.1 Drivers must be isolated and comply with what is indicated in the Chilean standard.

7.2 Conductor installations must be channeled in sight, except for underground pipes. (Electrical conduits
placed on the floor are not permitted).

7.3 The conductors must have a color that identifies the corresponding phase:

Table 1 - Identification of phases

Driver Color

phase 1 blue

Phase 2 black

phase 3 red

neutral or service ground white

7.4 Conductors installed on poles, the maximum distance between poles should be 30M.

7.5 The minimum height that the conductors must have from the ground is 4 M. The height must increase
in the area of vehicle and machinery transit. In addition, drivers must be signaled in the vehicle traffic area.

7.6 Drivers should in no case be subjected to traction greater than their own weight.

7.7 Extension cords must be 12 AWG (3.31 mm) CABLE. Wires are not permitted for making electrical
extensions.

8. PLUGS

8.1 Panels, switches, circuit breakers, differential protectors should not be installed in places where
flammable liquids or gases are stored.

8.2 The plugs must be industrial type. (Home plug is not allowed).

8.3 Slipper-type extension cords or extension cords with household plugs are not permitted.

9. ELECTRIC EQUIPMENT. (Machines or tools)

9.1 Electrical equipment must be connected to the network using industrial type plugs. (It is not allowed
to connect directly to household conductors or plugs).

9. GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

9.1 When carrying out work near overhead power lines, the following safety distance must be respected:
Distance greater than 3.0 m, on a low voltage line (less than 1000 volts).

9.2 When work is carried out with machinery near power lines, the supervisor must evaluate the ground
conditions and take the necessary measures to avoid coming into contact with energized lines.

9.3 If machinery comes into contact with an overhead line or cuts a cable, the operator must stay in the
machine cabin and avoid direct contact with the metal parts. If it is impossible to remove the machine, the
operator must wait until the system is de-energized.

9.4 If a person comes into electrical contact, separate the injured person or the cable using non-
conductive elements that are in the surroundings, such as wood. (Metal bars are not allowed because they
are electrically conductive or touching people in contact with a conductor, as they can be electrocuted)

9.5 Before beginning manual or mechanized excavation, the construction professional must previously
evaluate the underground electrical installations that may exist and adopt the necessary preventive
measures to avoid accidental contact by workers. Once located, a layout must be made to mark its location,
placing caution notices to identify the underground electrical conduits.

9.6 Unauthorized workers are prohibited from tampering with electrical equipment or installations.

9.7 Do not use appliances with damaged cables or plugs in poor condition.

9.8 Never pull on the cord to unplug an appliance. Always hold it by the body of the plug.

9.9 Do not place cables near hot surfaces.

9. 10 Keep electrical extensions overhead as much as possible. When hanging extensions on scaffolding,
an insulating hook must be available.

10. PROTECTIVE ELEMENT. (Maintenance electrician)

Helmet, Goggles, Chinstrap, goatskin gloves

Electrician belt (Lineman) or Safety harness
Dielectric gloves grade 00 (1000V).

11. Inspection by electrician

The electrician must carry out a monthly inspection, leaving a record on the inside cover of the panel.

12. Pole work.

Every time you need to do some work on a post, the following steps must be carried out:

• Check all your safety elements before climbing the pole.

• Visually check the post to ensure it is in good condition.
• Embed a sharp element into the base of the post diagonally, if it enters the post it is damaged and
requires replacement.
• Shake vigorously to check that it is firm.
• Install the dielectric hand scale and rest it on the top.
• At the top of the scale you should tie it with a rope to prevent the scale from moving suddenly.
• When climbing, at the top you must be secured with your safety harness and lifeline to the pole so as to
hug the pole.
• If a pole is in poor condition, it should not be climbed and should be reported to the direct manager or
risk preventionist.
• If you use scaffolding, it must be assembled by qualified personnel and request authorization from your
direct supervisor for its use.
• It is prohibited to use loader or excavator buckets for electrical work.

13. Protocol for requesting three-phase and single-phase splicing

1. Request the preliminary subdivision project with its different stages

2. Check list for preparing the work installation project:

Splice:
V Define a strategic position minimizing transfer at all times
from one stage to another.
