drawings.

J. Install switches indicated on plans for the various rooms directly adjacent to the entrance door
and as shown on the approved shop drawings.

K. Check the architectural drawings for the door swings and locate all switches on the lock side of
the openings. Verify in field prior to switch outlet installation.

L. Coordinate all final mounting heights with Architect's elevations and details prior to installation.
Where heights are different than those indicated or specified, the architectural heights take
precedence.

M. Where two or more switches control more than one 220 volt branch circuit, barrier boxes to
prevent 380 volts occurring in any one box.

N. Where more than one wiring device is mounted in the same location, gang mount such devices
on a common face plate.

O. Vertically align devices shown above other on the drawings on a common centerline unless
shown otherwise.

P. Where an outlet is indicated as serving a specific piece of equipment, locate outlet as required
by equipment or layout roughing drawings. Work from approved equipment and roughing shop
drawings to locate outlets.

Q. Fully coordinate switched mounted in metal architectural frames, posts and mullions with all
trades involved. Submit method of wiring and type and style switch to Architect for approval.

R. Installation for the floor boxes shall be as follows:-

Close co-operation between general contractor and electrical sub-contractor is essential to

achieve a satisfactory installation.

The structural floor slabs on which the under floor ducting and boxes are to be laid must be
reasonably level and smooth. Humps and protruding cement must be hacked to level to ensure
the ducting being laid will maintain the minimum screed thickness of 25mm over the ducting. It

Wiring Devices Section 16140

Ministries, Cabinet & Parliament Buildings - Governmental District Page 9 of 10

is recommended that a layer of green screed be laid on the structural slab, and the under floor
duct placed on the green screed to prevent air gaps and vacuum while screeding. For screed
thickness less than 25mm over the ducting BRC 0.8mm gauge x 12mm square wire mesh shall
be laid over the ducting before screeding to prevent screed cracking.

The floor slab where junction and service outlet boxes are to be laid shall be marked out.

Ducting shall be laid in straight lines between points of junction boxes and parallel to known
base lines on each floor. Changes in direction of ducting shall be made with junction boxes.
Use steel fixing clips to secure the ducting on to the floor slab prior to screeding. The intervals
between two saddles shall not exceed a maximum of 2 meters.

All joints in ducts and terminations of ducts in junction boxes/vertical access boxes shall be
made water-tight with approved type sealing compound. Precautions shall be exercised during
construction to prevent damage to the duct system and to ensure that the ducts and vertical
boxes are free of water, dirt, debris or any other obstruction which may impede and/or damage
the cables during pulling-in.

Junction and service outlet boxes shall be properly covered with the disposable screeding lids
approximately leveled and taped to ensure no cement gets into the boxes during screeding.

The frames and traps shall be installed after the screeding and while the floor finishing is laid, to
ensure the traps and accessories are clean after hand-over. The traps should now be adjusted to
flush with the finished floor. Wires should now be threaded through the ducting and boxes and
all accessory plates and accessories must be installed.

3.3 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

A. Upon completion of installation of wiring devices, prior to energizing circuitry, test wiring
devices for electrical continuity and for short-circuits. Ensure proper polarity of connections is
maintained. Subsequent to energization, test wiring devices to demonstrate compliance with
requirements.

4. CONNECTION
The NC C NO ( ) output on the controller is always associated
with the presence information on the detectors. At the 1st detection,
the relay closes and opens at the end of the time delay set on the
detector. 230/110 V: x 6 max.
This output can be used to activate a socket unit, a ventilation unit
and any other system via a contactor or for emergency lighting (see
diagram on p.3).
If one of the phases is cut off in an installation with two separate
phases, the other phase will continue to supply its associated lighting
circuit in mode 4.
In the event of a connection fault between the detector(s) and
controller, the lights will automatically come back on at 100% after
10 minutes.
If the controller fails, the level of the DALI ballasts will be maintained.
The controller has a status memory, which means that when the mains
power returns, it will return to the status it was in before the break for both
DALI channels. The state of the NC C NO ( ) relay is not memorised
as all that is necessary to trigger it is a detection. (If the controller has a
detector and there is no-one present after the mains power returns, the
system will switch off at the end of the time delay set on the detector).

To save more energy, the power relay L1 L ( ) supplying the

DALI ballast(s) opens 5 minutes after the end of the time delay set on
the detector (apart from in public building mode).
