A WEEKLY REPORT ON LEGAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME
CONDUCTED at GOVT. SCHOOLS OF BENGALURU RURAL DISTRICT

SUMMARY OF THE ACTIVITY:
We reported to DLSA and Sri Sandeep Salian sir directed us to identify 5 govt.
schools in Bengaluru Rural District to conduct LEGAL AWARENESS
PROGRAMME.
We have identified 5 govt. schools in Doddaballapur district and also have
chosen 5 Acts/enactments related to children to created legal awareness among the
school children.
DAY-1
DATE: 11-12-2023
ASSIGNMENT: LEGAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME AT GOVT. HIGH
SCHOOL, BASHETTYHALLI, DODDABALLAPUR.
The following are the activities conducted during the internship program:
We, the 5yrs final year Students of Sesharipuram law college under the
guidance of Sri. Sandeep Salian sir Senior Civil judge and Member Secretary,
DLSA Bengaluru rural district had visited the Sarakari Proudashale Bashtteyhalli
in Doddaballapur Thaluk on the 11th day of December 2023 to create legal
awareness to the high school students of the said school regarding “Prevention of
children from sexual offences (POCSO) act 2012”. The student by seeking the
permission of the Headmaster of the school gave a quick start to the program by
planting a sapling in the school premises which included headmaster Narayana
swami, SDMC president Malayya and some of the students of school including our
interns.
After the inauguration interns moved towards the students who were very
curious to know that why we had been there, without taking much of the students
time,started with the awareness program by welcoming the headmaster of the
school Narayana Swami, SDMC president Malayya and one of the subject teacher
yelappa and other faculty members of the school. Before starting with the program
interns issued questionnaire to all the students to test their knowledge with respect
to the subject and had given a short period of time to answer the questionnaire once
the students completed the questionnaire, one among the interns namely Priyanka
started to explain and enlighten the students regarding the POCSO act in detail
along with poster.
Session started with brief background of the POCSO act which included
when the act was enacted? what was the purpose? who will be benefitted? who will
be punished? what will be the consequences? of the said act, by giving a brief
explanatory note of the act the session was concluded for the and while explaining
we used posters and charts to make them understand quickly and then students
were asked to answer the other side of questioner to check their level of
understanding the concept, the response from the students was really applauding as
the students were able to answer few more questions in the questionnaire compared
to earlier.
After which the session was concluded by Mallikarjun one of the interns by
presenting vote of thanks by thanking every one namely headmaster, teachers and
students of the school for providing the opportunity to conduct the program and
making it a grand success.
ON 12TH OF December 2023 WE WERE PREPARED QUESTIONNAIRE
AND POSTERS ON OTHER ENACTMENTS FOR THE LEGAL
AWARENESS PROGRAMME.
DAY-2
DATE: 13-12-2023
ASSIGNMENT: LEGAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME AT AJAX
SARKARI PUBLIC SCHOOL, BASHETTYHALLI,
DODDABALLAPUR.
The following are the activities conducted during the internship program:
On 13 th December, 2023, A group of 10 students from Seshadripuram Law
College pursuing final year B.A.LLB were directed by Sandeep Salian sir (Senior Civil
Judge and Member Secretary) to visit the Kannada Medium government schools situated
in the Bengaluru Rural Districts. We arrived at Ajax Government Public School situated
at Bashettyhalli, Dodaballapura. By the time we arrived it was 10.00 am, after taking the
permission from the Head mistresses [ Rajeshwari madam] to conduct a legal awareness
program to the high school students on the topic of Prohibition of Child Marriage Act.
We were given the 8 th standard students to conduct the program, in the presence of
Head madam Smt.Rajeshwari the programme was started by inauguration by handing
over the sapling to the madam.
Then the session was started by giving a brief introduction on the topic and later
questionnaires were distributed among the students to know how much they know about
the topic and 5 minutes were given to answer only the A side of the questionnaire. Then
Priyanka proceeded with her session explaining about the brief history of child marriage,
and the minimum age categories for marriage [male 21, female 18], purpose of the
enactment, consequence of child marriage of children mental and physical health,
Punishments to the parties of child marriage, Children helpline Number and recent legal
development in the topic along with the charts.
Once the session was completed, the students were asked to answer the B side of
the questionarie to know how much they have understood the topic then we read out the
answers to the questionarie and in the end of programme the Chart was given to the Head
madam to stick it on the notice board.
The session was concluded by giving vote of thanks to the Head madam, teachers and
students who were present in the session. The session ended around 12.00 pm in the
noon. The visit was successful and we believe that our objective was achieved.
DAY-2
DATE: 13-12-2023
ASSIGNMENT: LEGAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME AT P.K.B
HIGH SCHOOL, BASHETTYHALLI, DODDABALLAPUR.
On 13th December, 2023, A group of 10 students from Seshadripuram Law
College pursuing final year B.A.LL.B were directed by Sandeep Salian sir (Senior
Civil Judge and Member Secretary) to visit the Kannada Medium government
schools situated in the Bengaluru Rural Districts. We arrived at P.K.B High school,
Marasandra, Dodaballapura. By the time we arrived it was 10.00 am, after taking
the permission from the Head master Ravikumar sir to conduct a legal awareness
program to the high school students on the topic of Prohibition of Juvenile Justice
Act.
We were given the 9th standard students to conduct the program, in the
presence of Head Master- Ravikumar sir the program was started by inauguration
with handing over the sapling to the Head master in the assembly. Then we moved
to a classroom.
Then the session was started by giving a brief introduction on the topic
and later questionnaires were distributed among the students to know how much
they knew about the topic and 5 minutes were given to answer only the A side of
the questionnaires. Then Mallikarjun proceeded with his session explaining with
the Chart about the brief history of Juvenile Justice, and the minimum age, purpose
of the enactment, care and protection of children, general principles of act. juvenile
in conflict with law, punishment and case law, social rehabilitation and
reintegration.
Once the session was completed, the students were asked to answer the B
side of the questionnaires to know how much the students understood the topic
then we read out the answers to the questionnaires and the Chart was given to the
Head master to stick it in the notice board.
The session was concluded by giving vote of thanks to the Head master,
teachers and students who were present in the session. The session ended around
12.00pm in the noon. The visit was successful and we believe that our objective
was achieved.
DAY-4
DATE: 14-12-2023
ASSIGNMENT: LEGAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME AT GOVT.
HIGHER PRIMARY SCHOOL KHASBHAG,
DODDABALLAPUR.
On 14 th December, 2023, A group of 10 students from Seshadripuram Law
College pursuing final year B.A.LLB were directed by Sandeep Salian sir (Senior Civil
Judge and Member Secretary) to visit the government schools situated in the Bengaluru
Rural Districts. We arrived at Sarkari Hiriya Prathamika Shale,Khasbhag, Dodaballapura.
By the time we arrived it was 2.00 pm, after taking the permission from the Head master
[ Govindaiah sir] to conduct a legal awareness program to the high school students on the
topic of Right to Education.
We were given the 6th,7th,8th standard students to conduct the program, in the
presence of Head Master - Govindaiah sir the program was started by inauguration with
handing over the sapling to the Sir in the assembly.
Then the session was started by giving a brief introduction on the topic and later
questionarie were distributed among the students to know how much they have
knowledge about the topic and 5 minutes were given to answer only the A side of the
questionarie. Then Mallikarjun proceeded with his session explaining with the Chart
about the brief history of Right to Education, features of the act, What is free and
compulsory elementary education?, role of parents to ensure RTE, RTE promote child
friendly schools, National commission for protection of child rights.
Once the session was completed, the students were asked to answer the B side of
the questionaries to know how much the students understood the topic then we read out
the answers to the questionaries and the Chart was given to the Head master to stick it in
the notice board.
The session was concluded by giving vote of thanks to the Head master, teachers
and students who were present in the session. The session ended around 3.10 pm in the
noon. The visit was successful and we believe that our objective was achieved.
DAY-5
DATE: 15-12-2023
ASSIGNMENT: LEGAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME AT GOVT.
HIGH SCHOOL, ARALUMALLIGE BAGILU,
DODDABALLAPUR.
On 15th December, 2023, A group of 10 students from seshadripuram Law College
pursuing final year B.A.LLB were directed by Sandeep Salian sir (Senior Civil Judge and
Member Secretary) to visit the Government schools located in the Bengaluru Rural
Districts. We arrived at Sarkari Proudhashale, Aralumallige, Bagilu, Dodaballapura. By
the time we arrived it was 11.00 am, after taking the permission from the Head madam
[Saroja Nayak] to conduct a legal awareness program to the high school students on the
topic of Child Labour.
We were given the 9th standard students to conduct the program, in the presence of
Head Mistress- Saroja Nayak the program was started by inauguration with handing over
the sapling to the madam.
Then the session was started by giving a brief introduction on the topic and later
questionaries were distributed among the students to know how much they have
knowledge about the topic and 5 minutes were given to answer only the A side of the
questionaries. Then Prema proceeded with her session explaining with the Chart about
the brief detaling of the act, the causes and consequences of children doing child labour
and a way out of the contiguous problem faced by young children of our country.we also
attempted to let them know the precautions to take and the scheme available to those
struggling as child laborers. We explained about the National Child Labour project
scheme and also about the training centres run by them. Along with child labour Act we
have also enlighted the students about POCSO, RTE & Child marriage Acts.
Once the session was completed, the students were asked to answer the B side
of the questionaries to know how much the students understood the topic then we read
out the answers to the questionaries and the Chart was given to the Head madam to stick
it in the notice board.
The session was concluded by giving vote of thanks to the Head madam
teachers and students who were present in the session. The session ended around 12.10
pm in the noon. The visit was successful and we believe that our objective was achieved.
