LTE899: Antenna Line Supervision

1. LTE899: Antenna Line Supervision

1.1 Introduction
The Flexi Multiradio BTS has integrated antenna line supervision in the Radio Module to
control the antenna line condition by the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) measurement.
The VSWR measurement can be done to a TX/RX branch antenna line only.

1.2 Benefits
The antenna line monitoring integrated into the Flexi Multiradio BTS RF Module enables
remote supervision of the antenna line without any additional hardware components
required. The Flexi Multiradio BTS RF performance is optimized because no jumper cables
and extra connectors are needed on the antenna line.

1.3 Functional description

The antenna line supervision is integrated into the RF Module of the Flexi Multiradio BTS,
and it measures the reflected RF power of the BTS TX antenna branch, defined as a Voltage
Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) measurement. In the Flexi Multiradio BTS, antenna line
supervision is license-based and no additional hardware is required. In case 2TX MIMO is
activated in the Flexi Multiradio BTS, both TX/RX antenna lines can be supervised. A separate
VSWR alarm is reported from both active TX/RX antenna lines. The VSWR monitoring system
is used for producing alarms for the antenna line condition against specified alarm limits. A
minor alarm will be generated when the VSWR is 1.9 and a major alarm (cell down) will be
generated when the VSWR is 2.6.
