The basic static separator
types are shown in the figures
and include the:
- Cyclone Separator
- Grit Separator
- VS-Separator
There are no moving or
rotating parts in a static
separator.
The product fineness can be
adjusted.
The KHD VS-Separator(lower
right) is the newest of this
group.
Examples of these separators
can be found in group plants.

The basic types of dynamic
separators are shown in the
figures and include:
- Separator with counter
blades and internal fan
- Separator with counter
blades and external fan
- Separator with rotor cage
and external fan
The following slides summarise
the characteristics of the more
modern dynamic separator with
rotor cage and external fan.

Dynamic separators
ƒ 3ULQFLSOHRIRSHUDWLRQ
The central part is a rotating cylindrical
cage (rotor) comprising a top distributor
plate and a ring of vertical blades or rods
that constitute the rejecter.
Material is introduced through feed spouts
and drops on the rotating distributor plate
on top of the rotor cage. From there it
descends in the form of a circular curtain
in front off the rotor blades. Air is
introduced tangentially through guide
vanes into the separating zone. Fine
particles leave the separator with the air
through the rotor and are collected in
external cyclones or bag filter. Coarse
particles are rejected by the rotor blades,
pass the separation zone and leave the
separator through the discharge device of
the tailings cone.

and require wear protection or are
manufactured from a wear-resistant
material:
air inlets
air outlets
distributor plate
rotor
drive shaft
The example shows that a variety of
wear resistant materials can be
applied to various areas.
