REACTION/REFLECTION
PAPER

Introduction
Being nursing students, every day a lot of topics are brought up to our attention to sense
what our future works will be and what the health field, in general, is. Maternal and child health
nursing is another crucial aspect that special knowledge and skills are required to make moms’
infants and children completely appropriate care. The outline of Unit 6 is all about illnesses that
require the attention of health care experts that aren't part of typical childhood incidents, as a
result most children have little direct contact with them. One of the most important
responsibilities that a nurse must play is to prepare a child and their family for an event or to
assist them in adjusting to that experience. Still, there is much more a nurse can do in this
scenario than just outline what would happen as a patient gets sick.

Body

Caring for ill children is unique in some aspects because illness can interfere with a
child's growth and development in ways that a mature adult are unable to do Illness can also have
a significant impact on a child's matte and interpersonal development, causing the nurse to look
into psychosocial concerns.

To assess, prepare, and measure patients, nurses must consider a child's physical,
emotional, and social development. Parents frequently participate in assessments, preparations,
and children's plans as competent partners. Because younger children are less able to verbalize
their symptoms or distinguish the underlying cause or impact of their illness, a nurse should
check closely for non-verbal signs. A pediatric assessment should analyze both the child's
physical health and its psychological equivalent.
All of these areas have allowed me to fulfill the need for a complete understanding of
pediatric nursing principles, assessment procedures, caring interventions, and holistic care for
children and their families, as well as age-appropriate communication and emotional support.
They have been able to help me become an effective caring nurse for children.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Unit 6 has offered valuable knowledge on the problems and challenges of
caring for sick children. I have learned that the difference of caring between pediatric and adult
care is important to assure that pediatric patients receive holistic, family-centered care. I also
learned to encourage the growth and development of young patients as a nurse. As a future nurse,
I am committed to caring and advocating for the health and well-being of children, as well as
viewing them as individuals with distinct abilities and qualities. It made me more inspired and
devoted to constant learning and understanding the patients regardless of their age, that holistic
care should not be categorized, and that it should be given to all who are ill to bring healing and
general health for them.
