Objective:
To verify Thevenin’s and Norton’s theorems for the given circuit.

Measurement of IL using Norton’s Equivalent Circuit:

Procedure:
1. Connect the given circuit on the board and connect the supply
2. Measure load current IL using multi-meter as shown fig. 2
3. Now open the load resistance and measure open circuit (Thevenin’s) voltage Vth using
multi-meter as shown in fig. 3
4. Measure equivalent resistance Rth after deactivating the source, and built equivalent
circuit as shown in fig. 4
5. Now connect the load resistance for the equivalent circuit and measure load current
IL as shown in fig. 5
6. For Norton’s equivalent circuit, short circuit the load terminals and measure short circuit
(Norton’s) current IN using multi-meter as shown in fig. 6
7. Measure equivalent resistance RN after removing source, and built equivalent circuit as
shown in fig. 4
8. Now connect the load resistance for the equivalent circuit and measure load current
IL as shown in fig. 7
9. Compare all practical values with theoretical values.
