ABOUT
The irrigation system is a process that promotes proper growth of plants by maintaining
the right levels of moisture for the soil. Crops, pasture and plants are watered which is supplied
by pipes, sprinklers, canals, sprays, pumps and other man-made features, rather than purely
relying on rainfall. The water use can be sourced from dams, lakes, rivers, wells, ponds,
reservoirs, canals or tube-wells among other various sources. Irrigation is a system of fulfilling
plant or crop water requirements as they need it as an essential resource for growth. Also,
irrigation systems help manage the volume, rate and timing of water application in order to
match with water holding capacities and soil intake (Amazon, 2021).
The world’s population is growing, and a wide variety of plants grown for consumption
is in demand. Developing or growing population countries like Iraq, Qatar, and Philippines need
to have good agricultural factors like crops. Crops are the basic necessity of life and are the
major source of food. Irrigation helps to grow agricultural crops and revegetate disturbed soils in
dry areas. One of the problems in the Philippines is that the agriculture industry has a low growth
rate and one of the reasons includes inadequate irrigation. According to Agricultural Water
Management, irrigation can enhance water efficiency, gaining an economic advantage while also
reducing environmental burdens such as water abstraction, energy use, pollutants, etc. Also, it
helps farmers to adapt and implement viable solutions that gain benefits from irrigation
technology (Lanzara, 2019).
However, water shortage is also one of the main problems our society is facing right now,
and according to Tanja Folnovic an Agronomy expert, drip irrigation type of system is the most
efficient irrigation type of system that farmers can ensure water management. Also, drip
irrigation systems can save up to 80% more water than conventional irrigation and can even
contribute to increased crop yields (Cuesa, 2014). There are irrigation systems in the Philippines.
However, it lacks more systems to be used that makes their irrigation dire. The benefit of this
system as there are long standing challenges that hamper the productivity that includes
inadequate irrigation is that in this study there will be a good and accurate design for irrigation.
KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS
In this key plan, a cost-effective embedded design of a drip irrigation system will be
made advance with the use of Arduino microcontroller. The modified design will check the
moisture of the soil to determine whether it is time to water the plant or crop. It also contributes
to the economy as it helps farmers to produce higher quality of pasture and crops at the same
time it saves more water. Lastly, through this, the students will be able to achieve their goal to
accumulate 1 million Philippine peso or more per individual through utilizing the system for
vegetable production and trade.

MARKET OPPORTUNITY

SOLUTION TO
PROBLEMS DEMAND

There may be a few problems The automatic plan drip

that might be encountered irrigation system market is
through the process of the expected to garner 5 million
automatic plant drip irrigation Philippine pesos after 11 years
system. However, this can be of running or at work. Due to
given a solution immediately water scarcity, the irrigation
since there will be inspections of system proves to be an
water quality, soil type, and innovative and efficient
types of grown crops to adjust solution for this crisis.
the system program.

PRODUCT

The irrigation can produce good qualities of

crops or vegetables as it monitors the soil's
moisture every second. While it has this good
quality of crops, it also manages to save the
amount of water used because it only delivers
water to the exact location where the plants
need water. It focuses on various growth
prospects and restraints in the market.
TARGET
The Arduino-Based Automatic Plant Drip Irrigation System is anticipated to exhibit the
fastest growth. Specifically, it is a drip type of irrigation. The proposed system is developed to
automatically water the plants when the soil moisture sensor has detected the soil is insufficient
water by using the Arduino as the center core. The target of this market is segmented into small
farming, extensive and corporate agriculture, and others. Also, while trading this kind of system,
the students develop a plan to produce crops by utilizing the system and selling its product to
earn more income and attain the goal of having 1 million Philippine pesos per individual in 11
years.
This type of irrigation system is most likely to be patronized by the target market (e.g.
small farming, extensive and corporate agriculture, and others) because of its durability. The drip
irrigation system is designed to be durable and is composed of silicone, water tank, hose, generic
hydro pump, arduino uno, soil moisture sensor, 5v12 relay, jumper wires, and drip tubes which
are materials made that will ensure the drip irrigation system’s long life. This type of irrigation
system will also solve water scarcity as it will only supply enough water for the soil when
detected having insufficient water. The said innovative system will most likely benefit those big
farms; watering their crops will be made easier, no water will be put to waste, and we can also
save man power because of this type of irrigation system.
Our world is continuously progressing, so it is expected that our team will put their eyes
closely on our product just to ensure that it will cater the present’s demand. It was mentioned that
there will most likely be few problems that this irrigation system will encounter. Those problems
could be solved by a frequent inspections of water quality, soil type, and types of grown crops to
adjust the system’s program. This maintenance is essential for our team to achieve our goal of
garnering 5 million pesos after 11 years of running at work.

MARKETING STRATEGY
The four P's of marketing, which are price, product, place, and promotion, are essential
for effective marketing communication. Building and strengthening connections with customers,
merchants, and those who offer its products are one of its objectives. However, the fundamental
goal is to reach a target market and influence their behavior through information, persuasion, and
reminders. They must go out to new clients and encourage them to buy their products while
maintaining relationships with existing customers. Environmental awareness, knowing the target
market, and assessing the external environment are essential factors determining business
possibilities and dangers. The students are willing to adapt their business tactics in order to stay
in business. The social and economic environment, as well as market trends are all part of the
external environment. When a new product is first launched to the market, it is called the
introduction stage. Models of the product that have already been on the market are considered
new products. A product's failure rate is relatively high in its first stages. The students plan to
introduce the product to the public using different internet platforms that may reach numerous
audiences and hopefully be engaged with the product. There are also several conventions and
expos that they can attend to introduce their products, such as the International Plant Protection
Convention (IPPC) and Tropical Plant International Expo, or also join organizations such as the
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), WWF, and Philippine Native
Plants Conservation Society.
