You have expressed an interest in a part of this year’s School production of ‘FAME.
’ It will take place on the 22nd, 23rd
and 24th October 2024. This letter will give information regarding the audition process.
By filling out the attached form you are of the understanding that being part of the show requires a lot of time and
commitment from you and also requires you to work under pressure in a short space of time. Therefore we want you
to get permission from your parents/guardians so that they are aware of this and can arrange to pick you up after
rehearsals. Rehearsals will be on Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursdays from 3.30-5.00. You will not be required at all
rehearsals but a timetable will be given out. Please be aware there may also be some weekend rehearsals closer the
show.
There will be a Sunday Tech Rehearsal the afternoon/evening of 20th October and an evening Dress Run on the
evening on Monday 21st October 2024. TO BE INVOLVED YOU MUST BE ABLE AT ATTEND ALL OF THESE
MENTIONED PERFORMANCES.
To be part of the school show you must ensure that your school work does not suffer and you make a conscious effort
to meet the demands of homework, classwork and coursework requirements. If your Head of Year feels that your
behaviour in school is not acceptable and your academic progress is suffering, they can withdraw you from the show
at any stage.
If anybody would like a part in the chorus but does not want to audition then this is absolutely fine, however,
pupils must still fill out the contract and hand it in.
You will need to fill out this form and hand it in by the morning of the day of your auditions.
The audition dates FOR MAIN ROLES are as follows…
YEAR DATE TIME
Year 7 Tuesday 9th April 3.30-5.00pm (approx)
Year 8 Wednesday 10th April 3.30-5.00pm (approx)
Year 9 Friday 12th April 3.30-5.00pm (approx)
Year 10 Friday 12th April 3.30-5.00pm (approx)
*The Cast will be posted on the new Fame TEAM which you will be added to shortly after the final auditions
Once you have auditioned you will be able to go home.
**Please note that following last year’s success of our younger cast, TUESDAY 22nd OCT Show may
be a Junior show but we are not completely certain of this at this stage. All the cast will be in it but
the main roles will be performed by primarily Year 7/8 pupils. The Older pupils would therefore take
the lead roles on the Matinee, Wednesday and Thursday night. (The chorus will be the same in
every show and all pupils will be involved in every performance.)
ACTING: Attached is a selection of very short monologues that all pupils auditioning for a main role will be expected to
learn ‘off by heart.’ Pupils can choose which monologue they want to perform.
SINGING: Attached are further details on the section that you will need sing, you will be taught the song at the beginning
of the audition in a group and have some time to rehearse.
Any queries please speak to Mrs Evans.
You are also reminded that to be involved in the school show your positive behaviour and commitment to rehearsals is
essential, the contract you sign will be kept on file and if necessary, you may be withdrawn from the show.
The first rehearsal for EVERYBODY will be a Read Through after Easter holidays on Tuesday 16th April. Rehearsal
Schedules will be given out then.
Thank you and Good luck!

Real talent! I have more real talent than all of you You’re wrong about me Mr Myers. I’m gonna make it

TEACHERS
Acting not only takes talent and determination. It requires a solid technique. Freshman year will be devoted
to the discovery of self – who you are. You nust be in touch with your own emotions, if you expect to touch
others. We will study ballet, modern, folk and jazz. You will push your bodies to the limit until every muscle
cries out for mercy.
SINGING: Pupils will not be able to audition for a singing role if this is not LEARNT OFF BY HEART.
Please use the following tracks to learn the piece of music first. Then there is a karaoke backing track for
you to prepare to perform with.

There she goes
Ain't she the picture of a real live star?
You'll want to follow her wherever you are
And there she goes
She's passing you
You better hurry if you wanna look
Maybe you'll get her in your autograph book
She's passing you
Reach out to touch, don't be shy
There ain't no reason to be scared
No it's too much I can't look her in the eye
No I'm not prepared
