iii. According to Boyle’s Law, state the relationship that exist between volume and pressure of a
given gas at constant temperature. (derive the equation)
(b) 370cm3 of a gas has a pressure of 775mmHg. Find its volume if the pressure is reduced to
740mmHg

4. (a) i. State Hund’s Principle.


ii. Write the electronic configuration of: Potassium, Calcium ion and chloride ion.
(b) The atomic number of sodium is 11 and its relative atomic mass is 22.99.
i. What is the mass number of sodium atom?
ii. How many protons, neutrons and electrons are there in a sodium atom?
iii. What are the principal differences between these particles?
(c) A sample of gas occupies 400.0ml at 25 oC and 1 bar pressure. What volume will it occupy at
200 oC at the same pressure?

4. (a) i. At 655mmHg and 25 oC, a sapmle of chlorine gas has volume of 750ml. How many moles of
Chlorine gas at this condition?

ii. Write an ideal gas equation (explain the parameters)


iii. Give two chemical properties of acid.
(b) Balance the equation of the following reactions:

ii. ZnCl2(s) + H2SO4(aq) -------- ZnSO4(aq) + HCl(aq)

5. (a) i. What is an Atomic orbital?

ii. What is Diffusion? Give an illustration.
(c) A cylinder contains a gas which has a pressure of 125mmHg at a temperature of 200K. Find the
temperature of the gas which has a pressure of 100mmHg if the volume remains constant.
