 This Manual describes various kinds of inspection needed to ensure
proper operation of the infant incubator as well as instructions for
troubleshooting.
 Various kinds of inspection are described in detail in this manual.
They should be carried out only by those who are familiar with the
operation of this unit, have adequate technical knowledge and skills
required in the inspection of equipment in general.
 If repairs seem required as a result of any inspection described in
this manual, either personnel with more advanced knowledge and
skills should undertake the repair or you should contact your
distributor for repair service.

1. Introduction
This service manual describes procedures for inspection, repairing and changing the setting
of this unit. It also describes precautions and troubleshooting in alarm conditions. The
procedures described in this service manual should be carried out only by personnel trained
in electricity and the operation of the unit. It should be noted that any responsibility arising
from inspecting, repairing or changing the settings of the unit lies with the person who carried
it out.

Read this service manual and the operation manual carefully and familiarize yourself
thoroughly with its contents before inspecting, repairing or changing the settings of the unit.
Keep this manual where it is readily accessible for reference in case of need.
For more detailed information on inspecting, repairing and changing the setting of the unit,
contact your distributors.

1.1 Basic Instructions

1. Medical institutions should be responsible for the maintenance, inspection and care of the
units.
2. When you choose to have the unit maintained and inspected or when the unit is found in
need of repairs from the results of inspection, consult your distributor and have the work
carried out by a person with adequate technical knowledge and skills who has taken a course.
3. Follow the instructions for safety.
Read the operating precautions thoroughly before operating the units.
4. Inspect the unit on a periodical basis.
Periodical inspection is needed to use the unit under optimum conditions.
5. Ensure that the unit should not be used when faulty.
Take proper measures to ensure that a faulty unit will not be used by mistake before it is
properly inspected, repaired and has its settings changed for normal operation. Such
measures include indicating on the unit that it is under inspection/repair, and keeping it
away from other devices that function correctly.

1.2 Definitions

-A WARNING identifies situations or actions that may affect patient or user safety.
Disregarding a warning could result in patient or user injury.

-A CAUTION points out special procedures or precautions that personnel must follow to avoid
equipment damage.

-A NOTE sets apart special information or important instruction.

1.4 Precautions

WARNING
When performing cleaning and maintenance procedures, confirm that the oxygen supply is
turned off and that the equipment is disconnected from the oxygen supply. A fire and
explosion hazard exists when performing cleaning and maintenance procedures in an
oxygen-enriched environment. Personal injury or equipment damage could occur.

WARNING
To ensure grounding reliability, plug the AC power cord only into a properly grounded 3-wire
hospital-grade or hospital-use outlet. Do not use extension cords. Personal injury or
equipment damage could occur.

WARNING
Make sure to turn the equipment off before handling it.

WARNING
Due to the risk of electrical shock hazard, only qualified personnel with appropriate service
documentation should service the unit.

CAUTION
Use of accessories other than those listed and approved for use in this product as original or
replacement items may result in increased emissions or decreased immunity.

CAUTION
The equipment should not be handled in electromagnetic environments where electrocautery
or imaging equipments such as MRI and CT equipment are used, or near equipment provided
with an electromotor that consumes a lot of currents. The electronics of the unit may be
affected by the radiation of various electromagnetic waves in the hospital and be led to
malfunction.

CAUTION
The equipment can not be disinfected by immersing in a medical fluid; it can not be sterilized
by autoclaving or with EOG. Follow the instructions of the user manual in cleaning and
disinfecting the equipment.

CAUTION
Perform the operational checkout procedure before the incubator is first placed into service
and after any disassembly for cleaning or maintenance.

4.1 Troubleshooting in control failure

Troubles Check
The incubator air temperature does not 1. Is the incubator air temperature set too low?

cold window? Avoid installing the incubator in
such a place in order not to cause a heat loss to the
environment.
3. A Temporary temperature drop might have
been caused by opening and closing the access
panel. Wait for a while and check the equipment
again.
4. Is the supply voltage low? The incubator should
not share a power outlet with another equipment.
5. Is the fan alarm or low air flow alarm on?
The incubator air temperature rises too 1. Is the incubator air temperature set too high?
high. 2. Is the incubator installed in direct sunshine or
near a heating apparatus? Avoid installing the
incubator in such a place so that it may not be
affected by external thermal conditions.
3. A temporary temperature rise might have been
caused by opening and closing the access panel.
Wait for a while and check the unit again.
4. Is a phototherapy unit or a heating humidifier
in use?
Humidity does not rise. 1. Is the relative humidity set too low?
2. Is the humidity reservoir off alarm indicator on?
3. Is the low water level alarm indicator on?
Humidity rises too high. 1. Is the relative humidity set too high?

4.2 Troubleshooting in system malfunction

(1) The skin temperature probe alarm is triggered.

5. Cleaning, Disinfection and
Maintenance
CAUTION
Be sure to turn power off, remove the power plug and allow the incubator and the heater to
cool down sufficiently before cleaning or disinfecting the unit.

CAUTION
This product is shipped without being disinfected. Be sure to clean and disinfect the unit
before using it for the first time after purchase.

CAUTION
Before cleaning or disinfecting the unit, check the oxygen supply to the incubator has been
stopped and that the incubator has been disconnected from the oxygen supply source.
Cleaning or maintaining the incubator in an environment where the oxygen concentration is
at a high level may lead to a fire or an explosion.

CAUTION
Clean and disinfect the unit whenever you use it to a new infant.

CAUTION
Clean and disinfect the unit whenever you notice dirt or stain which might cause infection.

Obtain a soft clean cloth and a disinfectant solution needed for cleaning and disinfection.
Recommended disinfectant solutions include:
 0.2-0.5% benzalkonium chloride aqueous solution.(e.g. Osvan)
 0.2-0.5% benzethonium chloride aqueous solution.(e.g. Hyamine)
 0.1-0.5% chlorhexidine aqueous solution(e.g. Hiitane)

CAUTION
Never use the above agents undiluted. Do not use any abrasive cloth, cleaner, alcohol, acetone
or other solvent for cleaning and disinfection. Do not autoclave.

5.1 Hood

 Cable access hole gasket


Remove all the cable access hole gasket.
Immerse and clean them in a disinfectant
solution.

 Access door gasket


Remove the gasket from access doors.
Immerse and clean it in a disinfectant
solution.

 Sensor module
Remove all the cables connected to the
sensor module. Remove also the
connector to the relay box. Draw the
sensor module out of the hood. Wring
tightly a soft cloth dampened with a
disinfectant solution and clean the sensor
module.

CAUTION
Do not immerse the sensor module in water. Immersing it in water will cause trouble.

 Inner wall panel


Open the access panels. Push the lever for the inner wall panel and remove the inner wall
panel. Wring tightly a soft cloth dampened with a disinfectant solution and clean the inner
wall panel.

 Hood
After all the parts are removed from the hood, wipe clean the inside and the outside of
the hood with a soft cloth dampened with a disinfectant solution.

5.2 Mattress tray and Parts Beneath

Hold the access panel connector and raise the hood until the hood knob locked.

WARNING
Clean and disinfect the heater and its
surroundings only when the heater has cooled
down sufficiently, or you may get burned.

WARNING
To raise the hood, be sure to hold access panel
connectors. If you hold the hood by any other
part, the hood will slip and cause a hazard.

WARNING
Be sure to check that hood is locked, otherwise the hood will fall forward and cause a hazard.

WARNING
To raise or lower the hood, be sure to lower the mattress tray first. If the hood is raised or
lowered with the mattress tray tilted or raised, it will hit the mattress tray and be damaged.

 Mattress tray
Hold the mattress tray by both edges and
lift it up. Wipe it clean with a soft cloth
dampened with a disinfectant detergent.
Put it back to the rail.

 Tray tilt arm


Lift the tray tilt arm and wipe it clean with
a soft cloth dampened with a disinfectant
detergent.

 Main Deck
Hold the main deck by both edges and lift
it up. Wipe it clean with a soft cloth
dampened with a disinfectant detergent.

 Fan cover
Remove the fan cover and wipe it clean
with a soft cloth dampened with a disinfectant detergent.

 Radiator
Lift the radiator and wipe it clean with a
soft cloth dampened with a disinfectant
detergent.

 Fan impeller
Loose the screw from motor shaft and pull
out the fan impeller. Immerse and clean it
in a disinfectant solution.

 Heating Chamber
The heating chamber will come in sight
when all the components mentioned
above are removed. Wring tightly a soft
cloth dampened with a disinfectant
solution and clean the heating chamber.

 Lower deck
Wipe the lower deck with a soft cloth dampened with a disinfectant detergent.

Replace all the removed components to their former positions in reverse order. Check that
they are attached correctly and close the hood.

5.3 Others

 Skin temperature probe


Wipe a used probe gently with a soft dry cloth. Wipe the thermistor with a soft cloth
dampened with a disinfectant solution to disinfect.

CAUTION
Never wipe the skin temperature probe with alcohol, or the material will harden.
 Mattress
Remove the mattress before placing a new
infant in the incubator. Wipe the mattress
with a soft cloth dampened with a
disinfectant solution to disinfect.

 Water Reservoir
Push the water reservoir locker to right
and pull out the water reservoir drawer.
Take out water reservoir, immerse and
clean them in a disinfectant solution.
Replace the water reservoir to it former
positions.

5.4 Replacing the air filter

CAUTION
Replace the dirty air filter with a new one every three months in general. The dirtiness of the
filter varies with the degree of air pollution and the frequency of operation. Check the dirtiness
of the filter routinely. If the filter is found discolored, replace it with a new one even if the three
months interval is not over yet.

1. Loosen the right and left screws on the


filter cover and open the cover.
2. Remove the dirty filter.
3. Discard the dirty filter. Wring tightly a soft
cloth dampened with a disinfectant
solution, and wipe the filter cover and
section to which the filter is attached.
4. Replace the new filter and the cover to its
former position and tighten the screws.
WARNING
Do not attempt to reuse the dirty filter by washing it or inserting it inside out.

5.5 Replacing the Oxygen Cell

The description in the section relates to a unit in which an oxygen controller is installed. If
your unit doesn’t have one, skip this section.

CAUTION
Replace the two oxygen cells at the same time.

CAUTION
The oxygen cell may be defective when the oxygen cell difference alarm is triggered. Replace
the old oxygen sensors with new.

CAUTION
Avoid giving mechanical shock to the sensors when replacing them.

1. Remove the cables of sensor module from


main body. Pull out the sensor module
from the hood.

2. Loosen the two screws of oxygen cells


cover and take out the oxygen cells cover
and oxygen cells together.

3. Remove the connector from old oxygen


cells.
4. Remove the two oxygen cells from the
oxygen cell cover by turning them
respectively counter clock-wise.
5. Install two new oxygen cells on the oxygen
cell cover by turning them clockwise.
Connect oxygen cell connector. Place the
oxygen cell cover into the sensor module
and fix the screws.
6. Put the sensor module back to the hood and connect sensor module cable with main body.
6. Inspection

6.1 Visual Inspection

1. Checking the main body and the hood.


Is there any damage such as crack?
Is visibility disturbed by dirt or grime?

2. Checking the access panel and access panel handle.


Is there any damage on the access panel handle?
Can access panel be opened smoothly?

3. Checking cable access port and access door gasket.


Is there any contamination or damage on the silicon parts?

4. Checking the fan impeller.


Is there any contamination, deformation or cracks on the fan?

5. Checking the filter.


Is there any dirt on the filter?

6. Checking the power cord.


Is there any damage such as crack or any hardening by deterioration on the power cord?
Is there any defect on the grounding plug prongs?

6.2 Function Inspection

1. Turn on the system.


Check: Is there numerical value for both hood temperature and humidity displayed?

2. Plug in T1 skin sensor.


Check: Is there numerical value for skin temperature displayed?

3. Set the air temperature to 25 in air mode.


Check: Does the numerical value on the temperature setting area change accordingly?

4. Set the relative humidity to 95%RH.


Check: Does the numerical value on the humidity setting area change accordingly?

5. Set the oxygen measure and control function on in factory set and user set menu. (only
the device equips with oxygen cell)
Check: Is a numerical value for oxygen displayed?
6. Perform the 21% calibration procedure.
Check: Does the oxygen concentration
display area indicates 21% after
calibration.

7. Connect the weight scale and perform


“Zero”.
Check: Does the system show “Zero
Success”?

8. After performing “Zero”, press weighing.


Check: Does the system show “0” as the weighing result?

6.3 Performance Inspection

6.3.1 Temperature Rise time

Operation: 1. Turn on the system


2. Set air temperature 12℃ higher than current temperature.
Check: Is temperature rise time less than 20 minutes?

6.3.2 Temperature stability

Operation: 1. Set air temperature at 35℃.


2. Once air temperature reach 35℃, record display temperature
for 30 minutes.
Check: Does display temperature wave more than 0.5℃ versus 35℃?

6.3.3 Temperature Uniformity

Operation: 1. Set air temperature at 35℃ and wait until air temperature
reaches stable condition.
2. Put 5 temperature sensors 10 cm above the mattress surface. One
point is above the center of the mattress, the remaining four points are
the centers of the four areas formed by lines that divide both the
width and length in two parts.
3. Record the data of 5 sensors every minute in totally 10
minutes
Check: Does the data in 10 groups differ less than 0.8℃?
6.3.4 Skin temperature stability under skin mode

Operation: 1. Enter Skin mode


2. Put T1 Skin sensor 10 cm above the center of mattress.
3. Set skin temperature at 36.5℃.
4. Once skin temperature is stable, record skin temperature
every minute in totally 10 minutes.
Check: Does the recorded temperature differ from set skin temperature
less than 0.5℃?

6.3.5 Humidity stability

Operation: 1. Set air temperature between 32 ℃ and 36 ℃, and set


humidity at 50% and 90%.
2. Once humidity is stable, record humidity every minute in
totally 10 minutes.
Check: Does the recorded humidity differ from set humidity less than
5%?

6.3.6 Noise level

Operation: 1. Set air temperature at 35℃ and humidity 60%.


2. Once temperature is stable, put acoustic meter 10 cm above
the center of mattress.
3. Record the data of acoustic meter.
Check: Is the noise level lower than 45dB?

6.4 Alarms Inspection


6.4.1 System Fault Alarm

7. Replacing the fuse and battery

7.1 Replacing the fuse

1. Pull out the fuse chamber from EMI filter.

2. Replacing two fuses together.

1. Loosen 4 screws from the bottom of


control module and draw out the control module.

2. Loosen 4 screws from the control module cover,


remove the cover.
3. Unplug 4 cables as indicated in the picture and
separate the control module from mainbody.

4. Unplug 4 cables from control board as


indicated in the picture. Loosen 4 screws of middle
metal board and remove it. The connector on the
top is for battery.

5. Replace battery with a new one.

6. Fix the 4 screws of middle metal board and


then plug 4 cables.
7. Connect the cable of mainbody and fix the control module.
