[Night before]
[Aria is seen in her room, on the phone talking to a friend, her room messy and littered, a few test
papers with low scores can be seen sitting on her table]
Sophie:
Yeah, we're getting the test back in the morning.
Aria:
Mhm
Sophie:
How do you think you did?
Aria:
Dunno, didn't study for that one.
Sophie:
And which test have you studied for?
Aria:
Good point.
Sophie:
Also, I don't mean to be annoying but you should really get off your phone during class.
Aria:
It's only been taken off me twice this week.
Sophie:
Yeah, only.
Aria:
Yeah whatever you say, anyways, good night.
Sophie:
Good night. See you in the morning.
[The morning]
[Aria is slouched in her seat on her phone, barely paying attention to the teacher's lecture.]
Miss Garcia:
Aria, can you please put your phone away and focus?
[Aria complies reluctantly. Miss Garcia continues addressing the class.]
Miss Garcia: I’m going to hand back the test papers you sat last week. I have to say, I am not very
impressed with some of your effort.
[Aria receives her test, which shows a disappointing score. She sighs.]
[Next to her, Elijah receives his score and smiles. She looks at him visibly disappointed]
[Sophie – a friend who watched that unfold-confronts Aria about her behavior, expressing her worries.]
Sophie:
Seriously? Aria. You're not taking care of yourself.
Aria:
What do you mean by taking care?
Sophie:
Y'know, what I said last night, how you need to..
[Aria cuts Sophie off, mildly annoyed.]
Aria:
Don't give me a lecture.
Sophie:
This isn't a lecture. Just that, you're better than this, you know that right? You deserve to be respected.
[Aria begins to realize the truth in Sophie's words, though she's resistant at first.]
Aria:
Of course I deserve respect, but no one respects me.
Sophie:
Do you respect yourself?
[Aria opens her mouth to speak, but no words are spoken]
[Cut to a scene where Aria is in her room, surrounded by empty junk food wrappers. She stares at them,
realizing how she's been neglecting her body.]
[Aria decides to make a change. She throws away the junk food and heads to the kitchen to prepare a
healthy meal.]
[The montage continues, showing Aria making small changes in her life. She starts exercising, eating
healthier meals, and spending less time on her phone.]
[Aria's journey to self-respect is challenging, but she perseveres, finding strength in the support of her
friend and teacher.]
[As Aria starts to prioritize self-respect, she notices positive changes in her relationships and her outlook
on life.]
[The short film ends with Aria confidently walking into the sunset, (or whatever, something that looks
nice.)
[The screen fades to black, leaving viewers with the message: Respect begins within.]
[End of script]
