QUESTION 1
1. State the correct term for each of the following statements.
i) A survey to study entire population.
ii) A sampling technique in which only the first sample selected randomly while the
following samples would follow a certain interval.
iii) A raw data that is obtained directly from the respondent by the researcher.
iv) A variable that involving numerical response which arises from a measuring process.

Bellissime-Paris.com is planning to add one more model of designer handbag to its stock. There
are six models to choose from, and the boutique would like to hear opinions from 2000
subscribers on the models that they like most. There are about 20,000 subscribers and the
boutique knows that 45% of the subscribers are private sector workers, 35% are government
sector workers, 15% are college students and 5% are others. However, the boutique believes
that there is much variation within these groups.
a. State the population and the sample.

c. What is the most suitable sampling technique that should be used? Give ONE (1) advantage

a. Calculate the mean and standard deviation for the above data.

b. Construct a histogram to present the monthly amount spent for groceries

c. Using the histogram in (b), estimate the modal value for monthly amount spent for groceries
and comment on the value obtained.

d. Given that the mean and variance of the monthly amount spent for groceries for Alor Gajah
residents were RM 285.30 and RM 105.45 respectively. Determine which area has more
consistent distribution.
