METHOD STATEMENT FOR RAFT AND RETAINING WALL

In generally a mix proportion of cement, sand coarse aggregate and water for different grade as specified in
tender for designated work location with reinforcement tied at location called R.C.C. The determination of the
proportion of cement, aggregate and water to attain the required grade of concrete will be made by designing the
concrete mix. Such concrete shall be called ‘Design mix concrete’.

SCOPE OF WORK:
 Cleaning & Clearing unwanted debris from concreting area.
 Mixing of concrete by ready mix concrete.
 Transporting and placing of concrete.
 Compacting.
 Curing.

RESOURCES:
 MACHINERIES:
 RMC
 Concrete Pump/ Tower crane
 EQUIPMENTS:
 Vibrator as per required
 Needle as per required
 Auto level with staff & Total Station
 5 & 30 M tape, Tower crane, Concrete Bucket and funnel.

 MAN POWER:

 Skilled and Unskilled labor force

1
 TOOLS:

 Shovel, Pan, Trowel,

 MATERIALS:

 Cement,
 Fine aggregate
 Coarse aggregate (of designated size)
 Water
 Admixture as per tender specification

DRAWINGS/DETAILS: Generally Drawings or Details are required to collect well ahead of work
commencement

 Marking Plan
 Relevant structural drawing

SPECIFIC WORK METHOD STATEMENT: -

a) Preparation of works:
 Prior to commencement of work, clear the unwanted debris/loose material from concreting area.
 Establish the marks for height and level of concreting.
 A joint inspection will be done for orientation, shape, size, thickness of concrete.
 A program is to be prepared for the work in line with the main construction program.

b) Execution of works:
 SURVEY:- Footing marking will be done on PCC surface as per drawing and checked
with consultant.
 SHUTTERING: -
 The grid lines will be transferred to fix the form work accordingly.
 Shuttering will be done using clean & good shuttering forms as per required level, line,
shape and size.
 The joints of shuttering forms will be sealed with adhesive tape to prevent slurry leakage.

 Adequate support and cross bracing will be provided by CT props to maintain the vertical
and horizontal of the form work

2
 Checking will be done for level, shape, size, support of shuttering.

 WATERPROOFING SIKA PROOF-312 HDPE SG IN:(PRE CONCRETE LAID)

Before laying of reinforcement steel sika proof-312 membrane will be laying for Retaining wall
footing bottom and sides portion.

REINFORCEMENT: -
 Loose and unwanted material will be cleaned before placing the reinforcement.
 Reinforcement bars will be cut and bent according to the bar bending schedule.
 The reinforcement will be tied using 18 GI binding wire (double binding).
 The cover to the reinforcement will be given as specified in drawing with PVC cover
blocks.
 BBS to be checked with PMC and client at the site.
 Clear cover to main reinforcement

CONCRETING: -
 The proportion of cement, sand, coarse aggregate with water will be mixed as per specific
grade in concrete plant.
 Grade of Concrete will be M30

 With the help of Auto level & staff or tube level and with respect to approved bench mark,
final level of concreting will be marked. Mixed concrete will be placed to appropriate
location and leveled with help of shovel and wooden mallet.
 Leveled concrete will be compacted with needle vibrator to get the required compaction.

3
 The whole process of transporting, levelling and compacting of concrete will be done as per
design mix of mixing cement with water to get the required compaction and to allow all the
interstices to be filled with mortar.
 Slump to be checked and design mix to be checked as per approval.
 Cube to be casted for testing as per 456:2000
 After final setting of concrete, the surface will be kept continuously wet for 7days.
 De-shuttering side board will be done after 24 hours
 Starter concrete will be casted (cold joint) within 24hours of pouring of concrete.
 Groove to be provided for swelling bars.
 For starter concrete swelling bar will be layed in Center portion.
 Vertical joint will be coated with Nito Bond or Equalient chemical compound.
 Concrete casting done up to Slab/Beam bottom-Single shot poring height.
 Ensuring waterproofing SIKA PROOF-312 Membrane without any damages.
