Sample Project AMS
Introduction

1 Introduction
The AVEVA Everything 3D™ Marine sample project (AMS) is intended to provide examples of the
various disciplines and functionality available within the product.
AMS also provides examples of how a designer would create the different discipline elements within
a ship.

AMS is not intended to be used as a template to provide detailed engineering solutions to specific
problems.

1.1 Assumptions
Sample Project AMS has been written for users familiar with design practices, who may or may not
have prior knowledge of the application.
It is assumed that:
• Users have a valid licence and the software has been installed.
• Users know how to launch the application.
• The AVEVA Catalogue Project (ACP) has been installed.

2.1 Sample Model Areas

The Sample Model is divided into three areas:
Ship FWD
Ship MID
Ship AFT

The user can add each of the three areas to the graphical views quickly without having to search
through the model hierarchy. A Group World (GPWL) for each area has been provided containing all
the area elements.

STYLWL Line Styles

This holds the GLYTN (MARINE-GLYPHS) and the LSTYTB (MARINE-LINES) for the line style
mapping, these are used to map Marine Drafting line styles to Draw. This is done by a variable in the
d065 file SBD_E3D_DRAW_LINETYPE_MAPPING which points the linetypemapping.xml file

3 Sample Project (AMS) - Default Files

Sample Defaults for DRAW (DRA-GEN-SYSTEM File)
A default file for DRAW, suitable for Marine and the Marine Sample Project in particular, is delivered
with the AMS project. The file is stored in the project subfolder defined by the variable AMSDFLTS.
When logging in to the AMS project, the DRAW application will pick up the DRA-GEN-SYSTEM file
from the AMSDFLTS folder in the first place. If there is no DRA-GEN-SYSTEM file here, it will look
for the DRA-GEN-SYSTEM file in the system defaults folder (defined by the environment variable
AVEVA_DESIGN_DFLTS).
