RE: ACCEPTANCE OF ACCOUNT BALANCE PROTECTION (TFG Money Account number: 0016510001138431298).
Thank you for taking out Account Balance Protection, an optional credit insurance product which protects the
outstanding balance on your TFG Money Account if you die.
This life insurance product is underwritten by Guardrisk Life Limited, an insurer licensed to conduct life insurance
business in terms of the Insurance Act 18 of 2017 and an authorised financial services provider (referred to as
“Guardrisk” below) with registration number 1999/013922/06 and FSP number 76. Guardrisk can be contacted on 011
669 1000.
Foschini Retail Group (Pty) Ltd (referred to as “us”, “we” or “TFG” below) is an authorised financial services provider
with FSP number 32719. We act as an intermediary and we have professional indemnity insurance.
The cover under the product started when you signed the credit agreement and accepted the terms and conditions
for a TFG Money Account or on the date that the take-up of this insurance product was captured by us, or the date
when you accepted this product over the telephone, whichever is the earlier.
The monthly premium for the product is calculated as follows: R0.28 for every R100 (or any part thereof) owing on
your TFG Money Account. The cost of the credit insurance is R0.23 per month, which is included in the premium. The
premium will vary every month, depending on the outstanding balance on your TFG Money Account. The premium is
guaranteed for the first month and may be increased at any time during a calendar year, but you will be notified of
any increases.
l Between R 0 – R100, the premium for that month will be R0.28. (R0.28 x 1)
l Between R101 – R200, the premium for that month will be R0.56. (R0.28 x 2)
l between R8 401 – R8 500, the premium for that month will be R23.80. (R0.28 x 85)

You consent to us debiting and collecting an amount equal to the premium from your TFG Money Account every
month. We will pay the premium to Guardrisk on your behalf each month. Your TFG Money Account may attract
interest. The terms and conditions of the product as well as the terms and conditions for a TFG Money Account
apply. We will retain this interest.
We earn an intermediary fee of 3.25% and a binder fee of 15% of the monthly premium, which is R0.05c of the total
monthly premium. The commission and the binder fee are included in the monthly premium which you pay.
There is no waiting period for this benefit for accidental death, but there is a 3 (three) month waiting period in the
event of your natural death, calculated from the starting date of the product. This means that the Account
Settlement benefit will not be paid within the first 3 (three) months of the start of the product in the event of your
natural death.
It is important that you know when the product will end, for example, when you turn 65 or if your TFG Money
Account is terminated. Cover will suspend if the interest, costs and fees on Your TFG Money Account equal your
total balance at default. Please refer to your policy terms and conditions for more information on when the cover will
suspend and reinstate.
Where your TFG Money Account has a balance of zero or a credit balance, the premium will not be billed and
there will not be any cover. Your cover will resume and the premium will be billed again once you no longer have
a zero or credit balance.
There are general exclusions that apply to Account Balance Protection, the details of which are in the Policy and
Disclosure Notice. Specifically, suicide is excluded for the first 2 (two) years following the starting date of the
product. If you die because you were affected by alcohol or drugs, your TFG Money Account will not be covered
under the product.
Please read them and keep them in a safe place. Please make sure that you have read the policy definitions, the
general exclusion clause, the premium clause and the claims procedure clause. Please also familiarise yourself with
the time limits for making a claim.
It is your responsibility to let us know if any of your personal particulars change. In addition, any information you
have given us must be true and correct, failing which, any claim that is made could be adversely affected.
Claims can be submitted by completing a claim form and handing it in at any TFG store. All claims must be
submitted to us within 3 (three) months of your death.
Complaints can be made to the Ombud for Long – term Insurance, by contacting them on 021 657 5000. Complaints
about how this product was sold to you can be made to the FAIS Ombud by contacting them on 012 762 5000.
Please note that you have a 60 day cooling off period (from the date that you receive the policy and disclosure
notice, or from a reasonable date on which it can be deemed that you received it) within which to cancel the cover
(provided that no benefit has yet been paid or claimed or the event insured against has not yet occurred) by
contacting Customer Services, in writing. If you cancel the cover within this period, you will receive a refund of your
premiums.
After the 60 day cooling off period, you may cancel the cover by giving us 31 days’ notice, by contacting Customer
Services on 0860 834 834. The address of our Customer Services Department is: Stanley Lewis Centre, 340

If the cover is cancelled after the cooling off period has expired, the premiums will not be refunded.
